Can't wait to hit GS on the way home for my copy of R2. If you see me on, hit me up for some co-op.

Well I didn't get to play in the beta, but if there are any co-op games going on tonight I would not mind an invite. Look forward to giving things a shot.

Re: [Playstation 3] - Resistance: Fall of Man 2
Got to play the SP campaign for about an hour last night and so far I think its much better than R1. Some things I like:
- sharper graphics and now there's color! not the dull washed out look of R1 - sprint button - Halo, CoD regenerating health system - 2 weapons at a time, the radial system of R1 always had me choosing the wrong one - the pace seems better, not as much down time - auger and bullseye now give targeted enemies a green outline instead of just a red reticule
Can't wait to get home and play some more.

Re: [Playstation 3] - Resistance: Fall of Man 2
Thanks for the impressions. I haven't had a chance to play it yet (lots going on last night) so this helps.
Resistance 1 had regenerating health btw, it just wasn't available from the onset.

In R1 you could regen within a bar but still had to pick up packs to recover lost health bars. None of that in this one...so far.

Re: [Playstation 3] - Resistance: Fall of Man 2
Playing for about an hour last night, the entire game is completely improved. The new control scheme is completely revamped and feels really good. I like that you can only have two weapons. Makes more sense compared to carrying an entire arsenal like the last game. Having a flashlight available at all times is nice too, as well as being able to choose which grenades you're using. Sprinting and crouching is more natural too.

Re: [Playstation 3] - Resistance: Fall of Man 2
Anyone else here blown away by some of the cinimatics of the game? The beginning of level two anyone? "Grey Area" totally awesome.
It seems that they have toned down the difficulty of the co-op in some areas since the beta... the giant guys no longer take a century to kill. Feels much more balanced.
This game is a lot of fun!

Re: [Playstation 3] - Resistance: Fall of Man 2
Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to point out something that I discovered.
Much to my surprise, my wife actually wanted to try this game out. So her and I sunk a few hours into the co-op mode and she leveled up her character quite a bit in that time.
When we decided to play some more today, her character was back to level zero. Apparently, the game does not save your local co-op partners progress. I found this to be very dissapointing. I dont know if there is a way around this, or if it might be corrected in a future patch, but for the time being, this seems to greatly limit the incentive for local split screen co-op play.
Just to be clear, player 1 has no problems at all, it only affects the person using the second player profile.
I sure hope they patch this because my wife was actually looking forward to leveling up her character in co-op. (I wonder how we could encourage a patch for this)

Re: [Playstation 3] - Resistance: Fall of Man 2
That is interesting ... a review over on psnlounge (just posted today) mentions the same problem. Ugh. Personally, I need a patch for my wife so she'll like playing co-op shooters with me!

Re: [Playstation 3] - Resistance: Fall of Man 2
ha ha.. yeah, I hear you. this is actually the first FPS she has ever even wanted to try, so I jumped at the chance... thats part of the reason why I am so dissapointed by this, because it could turn her off to future FPS games.

Re: [Playstation 3] - Resistance: Fall of Man 2
That's like RSV2 on the PS3 as compared to the 360. I use to own both versions, and the PS3 only allowed a guest to join locally, ala no saving as well, while on the 360 you can sign in your tag and save everything. After I found that out, the PS3 version was traded in.

Re: [Playstation 3] - Resistance: Fall of Man 2
Apparently there is now issues with the split screen co-op. You will frequently get network errors if you attempt to go online with a splitscreen buddy...
Hope they get this fixed soon! The game is a blast when its working right...

Re: [Playstation 3] - Resistance: Fall of Man 2
From the news item post about it: blakepro wrote: How do we get Insomniac to fix this? I'd be curious as to how they'd go about doing this as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a 2nd player that joins the game does so as "<Your PSN ID>'s Friend" or "<Your PSN ID> 2", right? So unlike XBox 360 which allows the 2nd player to join with their own Live account, the 2nd player for PSN is really just an extension of the account holder's... er... account. Which means that progress would have to be tracked separately from the account holder's? A solution may not be forthcoming as it seems like some general re-working of PSN might be needed.

Re: [Playstation 3] - Resistance: Fall of Man 2
Little Big Planet allows each player to sign in as either a guest OR log into a seperate PSN ID, so the system is capable of it. We need to get peoples attention about this though, if enough people find out about it and "scream" for a fix, then they will be much more likely to patch this. An example of this would be the recent Banjo-Kazooie problem on the 360... Rare officially stated that they had no plans to fix the problem that game had, but it got enough attention and people talking about it that they officially retracted that statement and said a fix is on the way. Thanks to the co-optimus staff for posting an article on it. If we can get some of the other major gaming sites to post about this, I'm sure Insomniac will feel pressure to fix this. Submit a tip to the following places referencing the Co-Optimus article located here: http://www.co-optimus.com/article/822/R ... blems.htmlhttp://www.joystiq.com/contact/tipshttp://www.ps3fanboy.com/tipshttp://ps3.ign.com/email.htmlHelp get the word out!

Re: [Playstation 3] - Resistance: Fall of Man 2
Nice article, and good catch on the original source of the review. That psnlounge site was just the first thing I clicked on in a Google search for R:FoM2 reviews. I'm not sure there's any original content there ... ?

Re: [Playstation 3] - Resistance: Fall of Man 2
I found a forum post on the offcial Resistance 2 boards from a member of insomniac, and he says they are working on an update that would allow you to sign into two seperate PSN IDs. So apparently they are working on it. He didint have a timeline on when it would be ready though. Sounds like it may be a way off...
What I would like to know at this point is if that means that my wife could create a PSN ID and start working on her character on her own, and then when its all working, simply log in with her already built up character... So many question... so few answers...

Finished the single player campaign on Saturday and want Resistance 3 NOW.
