 Borderlands
Yes, another Borderlands thread! Wanted to see if anyone is getting it on the PC - bought the 4 pack with friends and pre-loading it as I type. Also got it on the Xbox, but have friends that don't play xbox. And, it's good enough in my book to warrant a cross platform purchase.
Anyone? Anyone?
Also, any info on if this will have support in the MOD community? new maps and such to help keep it alive longer?

 Re: Borderlands
Depends on price and system specs. If I get any, it will be xbox due to larger number of friends getting there.

 Re: Borderlands
If you get in with some friends, you can get the Steam version for $33.75 with their buy three, get 4th free plus 10% off deal. I did it with some friends (also a great way to ensure your friends get it!) and cannot wait. In talking with the Devs during 'Game with the Devs' on xbox, the PC version is the exact same, better graphics and unknown if there will be mod community support. Not sure on system specs, but I never have an issue with games

I'm on the PC as well, under the name "deriaz" on Steam. (It may show up as "[KMod] Deriaz" if you search for me.) GameSpy account is "DeriazIronfist". I can't host or anything, though. . . Only join games. My connection isn't set up to do hosting stuff.

 Re: Borderlands
threw some friend invites inside the game to you guys.... hope you got them. Also, if no one has seen this, check it out - PC Tweaksthe two big ones I did are the mouse tweak (HUGE difference) and removed the beginning videos. Loads of others I have not tried yet, but the mouse tweak is HUGE... makes it feel so much more like a PC game and less like the Xbox version.

 Re: Borderlands
I'd love to do some mouse smoothing altering, but. . . I don't have ANY of the files these guys are talking about! I've looked through every single file I can, and none of them have the bEnableMouseSmoothing. . . I have things like "DefaultGame.ini" instead of "WillowGame.ini". . . :/ That doesn't help me.
I'd really like to switch the Mouse Smoothing too. . . This is annoying that I can't find a simple file, when I should have them. I've gone in game and altered stuff, but no files have appeared. :/
I'll have to poke around on that thread, unless you know something I don't about how to get at these files. . . ><

 Re: Borderlands
well, dunno what system you are on. I'm using Win7, and I think Vista is the same. I know the file is there on XP as my brother did this too. On Win7 the files are in: C:\Users\Your User Name\Documents\My Games\Borderlands\WillowGame\config
I opened willowinput.ini in notepad, and the mouse scrolling line was the 8th line down. Disabling the movies is a huge step in loadup time as well... that is in willowengine.ini in the same file folder.
there is a jump smoother that I'm going to try, but it looks to be that you jump less...

 Re: Borderlands
Argh. Ya beat me back here. Heh. Was just about to click Edit, too. The files FINALLY popped up. I'm not sure why they took so long to show, but I seems I have access now. So, that's good.

 Re: Borderlands
I missed the 10% off group buy. I don't suppose anyone did a 4 pack when it was 10% off and still has a copy left over?

 Re: Borderlands
I'm going to get it on PC as well, but I don't know if I'll be able to play with anyone who gets it on steam, anyone know if the multiplayer is centralized around their servers, or does steam use their own?

 Re: Borderlands
There are no servers, as far as I know, thought it does use GameSpy accounts when you're in-game. Steam is just one way you can purchase the game. Otherwise, I think it's peer to peer or whatever when you're in-game.

 Re: Borderlands
I've played with both Steam people and disk based people - no issues either way. Just loads of fun

 Re: Borderlands
oh hell YES I'm still playing! I have 3 games on the PC (2 soldiers and 1 Berseker) and 2 on the Xbox (both soldiers) Each is played when someone is online - that way we don't advance without the other. And with the DLC coming, I'll be playing this for some time to come.
Holler if/when you get it

 Re: Borderlands
I still play, though commitments in other games (One MMO in particular) are cutting into game time on the PC. But I do wish I could play more -- love the game on both systems.

 Re: Borderlands
borderlands is by far one of the worst games in existence, instead of taking the "best of both genres" they take the worst of both genres (fps and rpg)
sad and pathetic, only good thing they did right, was co-op

 Re: Borderlands
While I respect the decision that you don't like it, can I ask what was "worst" of both genres that they took? While I can understand the RPG elements that some people may not like, there isn't much to FPS. . . I mean, they got the First-Person part, and the Shooter part. . . What did they take that was "worst"?
Just curious, is all; while I'm not trying to change your mind, your post might come look a bit better if you rationalize your unhappiness with the game instead of saying, "They took the worst of both worlds. Not going to explain, but it's 'sad and pathetic'."
