Co-Op Release Alert

Postby bapenguin » Sun Mar 09, 2008 10:20 am

Another week and another double pack of co-op games.  Both games are available exclusively for the Wii.  First up is the highly, neigh, the insanely anticipated Super Smash Bros. Brawl.  While the game traditionally has just been a beat-em-up, the new game adds an additional story mode which can be played through with a buddy.  Most excellent.

Next up is Sega's House of the Dead 2 & 3 compilation.  You'll face the endless onslaught of undead with a buddy in a traditional arcade style light gun shooter.  Of course...instead of a light gun you'll be using the Wii Zapper, or other Wii-gunlike peripheral.

It's good to see some other systems finally getting some decent cooperative games.  I know I'm on the fence about both games, but my Wii is tragically underused.  It might be time to warm it up again.   Does either game tickle your fancy?

I picked up Brawl this afternoon and my 3 1/2 year old son and I had a blast with it. It's the perfect tool for brainwashing, er, teaching your kids about Nintendo's storied history :)

Seriously though, we dialed the difficulty down and I gave him a Wavebird to use and we romped through the first few levels of the Sub-Space Emissary mode (the story mode). It's not the greatest co-op mode ever, but it's fun.

Watching my son beat both of my 30 year old friends with Princess Peach... TWICE... that was priceless.
