Co-Op Quotes - Mass Effect 2

Postby bapenguin » Sat Sep 05, 2009 2:04 am

Bioware on why Mass Effect 2 doesn't have co-op, yet how they recognize its importance.

"We consider all features, and we recognize at Bioware recognize the benefits and the fun [of co-op]. Most of us are co-op players ourselves.  We felt that if we could do it, and do it really really well, it would be in the game.  We had to look at where we've taken the direction of the game so far and how [co-op] would affect things.  We didn't want to just do it sort of good, people would recognize that it's just a bullet point."  - Mac Walters - Lead Writer for Mass Effect 2

Mass Effects would definitely be the best games ever if they had co-op. Well.. At least Mass Effect 1 is awesome game even without co-op.

Mass Effect is one of the reasons I wish I had a 360. It looks and sounds like such a fun game.

i'd love to see this co-op but i bet it wouldn't be split screen. even then, my wife would probably get sick of it. arg

I never see any co-op potential in Mass Effect, it's not like Brink or Borderlands. it's not made for co-op from the beginning.

And even if co-op was tacked on it wouldn't work because it's a very linear game with small areas

I have no doubt that Bioware could craft a great co-op experience on modern hardware, but ME isn't the place for it. I got a lot of my enjoyment from the game interacting with all the characters, and reading text just doesn't make for a good co-op experience.

very true, they'd have to cut that down a lot. i never played the first one so i didn't even think of that.

Well it's not the text, it's the dialogue. I love it, but the dialogue would have to be cut for co-op. But BioWare loves its stories so no co-op...at least not in the first ME trilogy could be more coming.

I agree, far too much story and dialogue for proper co-op. It'll probably be better suited for Bioware's Old Republic.

Might be interested in this one with co-op. I'm not a big fan of future stuff though.

I dont mind games without coop. Since the first one did not have it I dont really see a reason to have it in this one. I do think that Coop is not for all games.

I would have really liked to see the addition of co op to mass effect 2. they know it would be awesome... but if they don't think they can do it well, then i'm glad they aren't just throwing it in.

I'm glad not everyone goes with the whole "We didn't add co-op because no one like it" angle.

Seems like all the talking and choices would make this difficult to play in a co-op fashion.

I was going to sell Mass Effect but hearing everything about ME2, I'm holding onto it to test the multiple adventure paths ... plus I'll probably get the last few achievements I missed.

I love the fact that getting achievements in Mass Effect gave your character bonues, and for the weapons/talents it allowed you to add weapons/talents normally not available to the other classes when starting a new game.

I really, really liked Mass Effect's achievements...I just hope they maintain that for the sequel.
