Hurray! 1.0.0 has officially broken all my mods! Even my texture pack.

But it's also added lots of things to go searching for.

Anyone played around with it yet?

nope. nobody has been on the server for ages so i shut it off to lighten the electric bill. it was keeping my office a bit warmer though :). if you guys want to give 1.0 a go, i can get it running as soon as the canary team gets a build up.

I was thinking about this the other day. For whatever reason, I haven't been in a Mindcraft state of mind. It might change eventually though, if you get Canary up and running we can investigate again.

They've added a lot of things. Experience actually has a function now. Craftable potions. NPC towns*. Animal breeding. And a lot more reasons to adventure into the Nether.

*Currently useless but I'm guessing they'll eventually get more in line with the Millionaire mod.

Cool, maybe more reason to join a server so we can divvy up the tasks. I generally just like building. The initial thrill of mining was awesome, but crafting was more what I wanted. We had a good system down in our last world, maybe we can get something similar here again once all the bugs and kinks are worked out.

the server is back up with a fresh world running minecraft 1.0.1 (weird how it went from 1.8.1 to 1.0.1). haven't connected to it yet.

i see hedgehogaj jumped on for a bit and found a village... very cool!

by the way, the map is working but for some odd reason it is waaay off-center. pan down and slightly to the right to see our explored area. i'm not sure how it picks that spot when it loads. maybe i can fix it.

Logged on for a sec, but it was crazy laggy on the laptop. No idea why. I'll try from my regular PC tomorrow and see if the luck is better.

Let me know what you find, I couldn't tell if it was the laptop or your server. I've had pretty good luck with the laptop before, but then again it has trouble running some small Steam games so who knows...

i've been playing the past few hours and it's stable. try it now. if you're lagging it's either your laptop or the tubes connecting us. aj got a lot done so it must not be laggy for him.

I've noticed some glitching, but nothing that I haven't seen normally. I've noticed a lot of terrain loading errors and blocks not updating (like parts of trees still being visible after being cut down) in 1.0.

are you talking about the floating blocks? they're like islands in the sky. mario has them, they're totally legit in an 8-bit world!

all kidding aside, yes i've noticed a lot more structural oddities that i've never seen before. right outside my area there are two holes that go straight down as far as you can see. i just put fences around them... not sure if i'll cover them up, they're kinda cool. there are also a lot of very strange looking pillars and blocks floating way up in the sky. not a big deal but it just looks weird. i've been thinking about finding one of those level editors and removing some of that strange stuff that i can't reach easily in-game.

did you notice one of the houses in the village doesn't have a door? there's an NPC stuck in there too... poor guy.

speaking of the village... i think we should build a huge wall around it like we did w/ bald mountain. maybe have an actual castle within the walls.

I mean like the blocks don't visibly load, but you can still interact with them. Or you break them, but you can still see them.

The strange geography I've seen before. Seems to be more common now though.

On a side note, the small wooden structure at the bottom of the hill my house sits on is a path that leads to an abandoned mineshaft. I didn't fully explore it, but it appears to be fairly large.

i went down there before i had a good supply of torches/pickaxes/swords, so i didn't go too far. i spent some time on my "home" though. is it just me or did we get screwed when it comes to coal? haven't found much. obviously i carved out quite a bit for my abode but i only found about 6 or 7 blocks there.

It loads and plays fine on my PC, must be my laptop can't hang. Bummer, as it'd be much easier to play from the laptop. I poked around but didn't do much, when things settle down I'll show up and try to start building.

At this point no, but I'm hoping they'll eventually change it to be like the millionaire mod. The mod adds NPC villages where you can trade with the locals to help them expand their village.

I did have to dig down a bit to find any substantial coal deposits.
