Each player controls their own group in co-op specific missions. These missions are extremely difficult unless players work together as a team.
Examples:
- Mission “Up Hill” is about trying to take control of the Atomic Bomb facility. If you don't hurry, a nuke is dropped to one of the players every 10 minutes. If you do hurry, you have to risk huge losses…And there are not much reinforcements...
- Mission “Beach Head” is a D Day type of mission. You start with infantry on the beach. The enemy is much stronger than you. If you progress, you can have more and more, stronger and stronger units... at the end you'll have many tanks and must break the Soviet defence line which is very difficult.
- Mission “Cold War” is about holding your base for an hour against 4 enemies, “Alamo” style.
- Mission “Breakthrough” is about taking a radar station and breaking through the enemy lines to reach the other side of the valley.

Codename Panzers: Cold War
The storyline starts in 1949, and follows an alternate history, with the timeline diverging into a war between the Soviets and the West. Following the defeat of the Nazis, Germany has been partitioned into Soviet and Allied zones of control, with the Soviets building up their military presence in readiness for a new war. During the Berline airlift, a Soviet fighter collides with a US cargo plane, the Allies declare war on the USSR, and the next day Berlin becomes a savage battlefield between the two Superpowers. The player takes the side of either the USSR or the USA and its allies, with the storyline said to involve characters from the two previous Codename: Panzers titles.
