Our Weekend in Gaming - The Haloz Edition

Ummm....Halo Reach?  Yeah - it's coming out next week.  Perhaps you heard of it?  Oh, you did?  Good.  Everybody on the staff is itching to get their hands on it.  It's worse than that time you wanted Voltron for Christmas in 86, and you were just laying in your bed the night before wondering what it'd be like to run around the house yelling "and I'll form the body and head!"  Yeah, worse than that.  It's bad.

Dungeon Hunter Coming to PSN

Back in 2009, Gameloft released a little game for the iPhone called Dungeon Hunter. It was a Diablo-inspired hack-and-slash where you leveled and built up a character. Now Gameloft plans on launching it in HD exclusively for PlayStation Network - and this time with 4-player online and offline co-op! An HD-overhaul goes beyond a visual face-lift, taking the opportunity to bring in a new art-style as well. No word yet on pricing, nor is there a trailer available yet. But there are some delicious screenshots (mmm, screenshots!). We'll keep you posted!

Diablo 3's Crafting System Revealed in New Video and Screens

No doubt taking a queue from their title World of Warcraft, Blizzard have revealed a crafting system for Diablo 3 called the Artisan system.  Instead of the player actually crafting the item, they'll be bringing raw materials to an artisan in a caravan or town to create the item they so desperately want.  In the field you'll be able to break down weapons, armor and other items into raw materials and bring them to artisans for crafting.

Kirby's Epic Yarn Trailer Is Fuzzy and Adorable

One might feel that platform superstar Kirby was cute, sweet, and adorable enough already, with those chubby cheeks, a pink floaty body, and oversized red feet.  But, Nintendo has gone and recreated him in yarn form, which pretty much gives Kirby the "awwwww!" power of a hundred puppies.  For co-op fans, though, Kirby's Epic Yarn is something to look forward to not just for cuteness, but for two player co-op!

Rock Band 3 Keyboard Gameplay, Plus Export Details

As Rock Band 3's late October release approaches, more and more details about the game are coming to light.  The keyboard instrument, new to the series, is perhaps the most intriguing.  A new trailer has been released, and a good bit of actual keyboard gameplay is shown off.  From the video, we see that on easy and medium difficulty, the note track looks very much like a guitar track, but on hard and expert, the track changes to look like that of the picture above.  While the lower two difficulty levels will only have a 10 note range, the tougher versions will require players to shift up and down the ivories often, more directly mimicing an actual keyboard playing experience.

Halo Reach's "Deliver Hope" Extended Version

It wasn't long ago that hope was delivered in the form of a giant bomb to the Covenant courtesy of a 60 second live action trailer.  Today we have the extended version of that trailer, clocking in at a full two and a half minutes.  What's different?  The pacing is a bit more deliberate this time around and there's a few new action sequences as well.  But all of these extended cuts and additions still don't make up for the lack of a real Halo movie.

Brink Developer Diary Episode #5 Focuses on the Mind

The fifth Brink developer diary is out, this time focusing not on the game itself, but on the team of developers behind it and how their vision of specific features make their way from dreams to reality.  The Splash Damage team is made up of numerous industry veterans like Richard Ham who have always wanted the freedom to create something amazing without too much holding them back, and according to each of them, they are finally doing it with Brink.
