D&D: Neverwinter Announced for 2011 on PC

Publisher Atari and developer Cryptic Studios (developer of MMOs Star Trek Online, Champions Online, and City of Heroes/Villians) have announced development of a new co-op RPG title, simply entitled Neverwinter. Taking place in the world of Dungeons and Dragons, the game will coincide with the release of a new book trilogy (the first book being Gauntlgrym) by R.A. Salvatore as well as a tabletop RPG by Wizards of the Coast.

Portal 2 Co-Op Trailer is Short and to the Point

Valve have released a trailer showcasing what Portal 2's co-op gameplay will be like.  It may be short, but it gets the point across, and really makes us excited for some of the more advanced co-op puzzles we'll see when the game launches this February.  I can also see Portal 2's co-op mode being a lot of fun just to screw around with sandbox style with a friend - all we need is some quality ragdoll physics!

Halo Reach Meets Facebook in the New Bungie.net

Bungie's web prescence with their Halo titles have always been a step above the competition.  When Halo 2 launched detailed matchmaking stats and history available online within minutes of your match completion it set a new precident for console games.  Many years later Bungie is about to unleash it's 3rd major iteration of the website for Halo Reach and as usual - it's loaded with some slick new features.

Co-Op Casual Friday: Murky Horizon

The formula for Murky Horizons is something like this: take a healthy dollop of twin stick shooter, mix thoroughly with a "build your own maze" tower defense game, and add in a hint of the "stay in the light or die" mechanic from Gears of War. It may sound like an odd conglomeration, but it works.

Summers End Sales, Zeno Clash and Alien Breed

It’s almost back-to-school, cooler weather time once again. To celebrate with some sales, Xbox Live will be offering a few deals at the very end of August to help you cope. Two games of note will be on this discounted deal. First up is Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition will drop from 1200 ($15) to 800 ($10). Next in line we’ll see Alien Breed Evolution: Episode 1 will drop from 800 ($10) to 400 ($5).

Our Weekend in Gaming - A Summer Buffet

There's a regular buffet of gaming going on with the Co-Optimus staff this weekend.  Whether it's playing sports games, RPGs, portable titles, or classics - there's surely a game for everyone.  The one stand out title everyone seems to be playing is Monday Night Combat - a truly excellent game any night of the week.
