E3 2010: Here's The New Nintendo 3DS

The announcement of a new video game system is always newsworthy, but especially so when it concerns a new Nintendo handheld.  The next iteration of the mega-successful DS hardware is here.  Dubbed the Nintendo 3DS, the obvious focus is on three dimensional display of games and movies.  The upper diplay screen has been revamped, and will be in widescreen ratio, 3.5 inches across.  The resolution of the upper screen is 800 by 240, and it will enable 3D viewing without the need for special glasses.  The user can adjust a slider bar to increase or decrease the 3D effect to his or her preference.

E3 2010: Donkey Kong Country Returns With Co-Op!

Some big news is coming out of Nintendo's conference at E3 today.  Amid the news about the new 3DS handheld (which we'll cover shortly) and the latest Zelda game (The Skyward Sword) comes news of a revival of a classic Nintendo co-op series.  Donkey Kong is coming back to the Wii!  In the quite literally titled Donkey Kong Country Returns, Donkey and Diddy will be teaming up for adventure once again.  The gameis being developed by Retro Studios, and is coming "this holiday season".  That's some fantastic news, as the Donkey Kong Country games are well regarded.  The co-op elements were a bit too simplistic in the originals, so perhaps that will be fixed in the new title.  We'll keep you posted with further developments!

E3 2010 Conduit 2 Shows Us Guns

Last years release of a Wii on-rails shooter sans co-op baffled us in The Conduit. It was the first time in ages a game with such co-op capabilities left us without a player 2. It would appear Sega learned from their mistake, unleashing The Conduit 2 complete with co-op, and a supposedly revolutionary online multiplayer system. This will be the first time a company has made such a claim for Wii's online capabilities, but we're certainly ready to hear more.

E3 2010: Power Gig Rise of the Six String Demo

Several months back, we first heard about Power Gig Rise of the Six String. The game is billed as a more authentic guitar playing experience, using what is basically a standard guitar that can change into a more typical music game peripheral.  Wonder how that all works?  G4 has posted their time playing the demo hands on.  It's certainly interesting, but it remains to be seen whether Power Gig will topple Guitar Hero and Rock Band from the top of the music game heap.

E3 2010: Halo Reach Campaign Trailer Requires Change of Pants

Better break out the Depends undergarments, ladies and gentlemen.  The new Halo Reach campaign trailer, fresh from Microsoft's E3 show yesterday, is now available for us poor slobs who were unable to attend.  The footage is from the campaign mode, which as we already know, will support 4 player co-op.  Some nice views of the HUD as well as some new tricks like fancy assassination moves are on display.  The game looks beautiful, leaps and bounds better than any previous Halo.  But the best part of the trailer is the last few seconds... (Spoilers ahoy, Spartans.)
