For some reason, I've had Atari on my mind quite a bit lately. It's unfortunate that most of the old school Atari games were single player experiences, and don't get much coverage here at Co-Optimus. But there is one obscure Atari game that will be of particular interest to fans of co-op gameplay.
Today, Little Big Planet 2 is officially announced. The game is setting the bar high for itself, not only adding more of everything - but allowing players to create more of everything. Including features like "digital puppetry" and the ability to make games of any genre, not just platformers, Little Big Planet 2 sets the bar incredibly high for a co-op game.
We just got a fresh batch of screenshots and a new trailer for Super Mario Galaxy 2 which shows the green clad plumber having at it with the minions of Bowser. Sadly it doesn't look like Luigi and Mario will be a co-op pair that are playable in the game, as it's an either or scenario for your goomba stomping. You'll still be able to play co-op with the 2nd player controlling your sidekick star.

Once again Amazon is offering killer deals on upcoming new releases if you pre-order. The latest is the 8 player co-op friendly Red Dead Redemption, which hits on May 18th. We just got word the game would offer FREE 4 player co-op DLC shortly after release. Pre-ordering will also net you the in game "gold guns" weapon pack.

Good news for fans of Splinter Cell Conviction, community manager Li Kuo has stated that some "killer DLC is almost done" and that the game's co-op mode is a huge hit. Could this means that new cooperative modes are in the making for the game? Perhaps it'll add in the previously rumored 4 player co-op modes. Hopefully we'll know more soon.
