Free Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce DLC Now Available

What could possibly better than over the top, blades flying, four player online action?  How about more of the same, for the low, low price of free (for Gold members)?  A DLC pack for Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce is now available, and includes three new quests: Battle of Ru Xu Kou, Linked Chains Plan, and Martial Contest 2.  Nick seemed to think highly of the game, and the changes to the franchise, as you can read about in his review.  You can queue up the DLC right here.  Don't have the game?  Try out the demo and see if some kitten slashing is right for you.

The Secret Armory of General Knoxx Video Review

Last week we brought you the written review and impressions of Borderland's 3rd piece of DLC.  The Secret Armory of General Knoxx kicked things up to 61, added new enemies and weapons, and generally was an all around good time.  Don't take our word for it?  Then perhaps this video will change your mind.  I'm sure there's some joke here about a picture, 1000 words, and flaming midgets - but I'm just going to let it speak for itself.

Activision Dials Down Guitar Hero Releases, Plus Possible Patent Problems

2009 - it was the year of way too many music video games.  The prime culprit was Activision, releasing a whopping 25 different SKUs last year.  Even for die-hard fans, that's too much of a good thing, and it's no surprise sales were lower than expected.  According to a conference call to investors, Activision plans for only two Hero games this year, both coming in the second half.  A sequel to DJ Hero and an unnamed Guitar Hero game are coming.  No PS2 versions, nor instrument bundles will ship for either.  Could there be trouble with the oversaturated franchise?

Interview With Crackdown 2 Developer Discusses Co-Op Play

Computerandvideogames.com posted an interview with James Cope yesterday in which the Ruffian Games producer, and former employee of Crackdown dev Realtime Worlds, discussed what players can expect from the four player co-op in the upcoming Crackdown 2.  James' description is very similar to what he stated in a previous interview, so it's good to know they're still focused on this idea of allowing you and your buddies to tackle a much larger goal by simultaneously working on different missions.

Indie Strategy Bundle Includes AI War Plus Zenith Remnant Expansion

As the weekend approaches and you're wondering what you might be playing, three indie developers are offering up each of their strategy-based PC titles in a bundle deal that will run you just $49.99 (as opposed to the regular $90 price for all three).  This deal runs from now until March 9th, so you have a couple days past the weekend to pick it up.  One of these titles is the co-op RTS title, AI War: Fleet Command, and its recent expansion, The Zenith Remnant.  In our review of the game, we felt that the co-op portions of AI War worked really well and the different AI foes, which The Zenith Remnant expanded upon, you could select kept the game interesting.  Each of the titles includes a demo, so you can check each title out before committing to anything.  While we haven't had a chance to play the other two titles being offered, PC gamers that are fans of the Sins of a Solar Empire series should definitely give AI War a spin.

Departed Infinity Ward Execs Sue Activision

Well, that didn't take long... Jason West and Vince Zampella have filed a lawsuit against Activision, according to 1up. Their lawyer states that the filing will pit 'wrongful termination' and 'unpaid royalties' up against Activision's claim of 'insubordination' and 'breach of contract'. Methinks this will not end well.

More Borderlands DLC Planned

Gearbox are hoping that you are not bored of Borderlands yet as they are planning more DLC after the three pieces made available so far.  The recently released The Secret Armory of General Knox  upped the level cap and has received critical praise.  We at Co-Optimus felt that it was perhaps the first piece of DLC for the game that actually felt like a true expansion.  It must be selling well as Take Two CEO, Ben Feder, has been quoted as saying that they, "will continue to support the game with added content".  No news yet of what this will entail, but with the DLC getting better each time, Borderlands is a game that continues to improve.  A retail version of the early DLC is coming to the shelves soon and with over three million copies of the game sold since release there are plenty of people out there who might be interested.  Let us hope that this influx of DLC is an indication that many more future co-op games will be supported after their initial release date.

Co-Op Gaming to Help the Blind

Video games are for the most part a 4 sense experience - touching, feeling, hearing, and seeing.  But not all gamers are so lucky to experience everything a game has to offer, and perhaps the most difficult for those handicapped are the blind.  Without the ability to see they must rely on their other senses to get through the game's they love so much.
