LEGO Harry Potter Conjures up Split Screen Co-Op in Latest Trailer

We just got a brand new trailer for LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4 titled "Conjuring up Fun."  The focus of the trailer is on the open nature of LEGO Games, and specifically the creative things you can do in the latest addition to the franchise.  But what really grabbed our attention is the focus on co-op and a unique implementation of split screen co-op.

Don't Fret! Fret Nice Brings 2 Player Co-Op to XBLA This Week

This week brings us three new Xbox Live Arcade titles, and lucky for us, one of them is co-op!  Fret Nice is a rather quirky looking game, a platformer with a music game influences.  Two players can team up to play, though sadly they can only do so locally, and not online.  You and your partner can battle "heavy metal bosses", and defeat enemies by "creating your own sounds with each "strum" of a chord".  Add on a robust character cutomization system and the papercraft graphical style of the game, and Fret Nice appears to be worth checking out.  It will be available Wednesday for the MS point equivalent of $15.  Why not check out the Xbox.com entry or the official homepage in the meantime?

Perfect Dark XBLA Co-Op Only for Two Players, After All

The Co-Optimus staff doesn't have an overtly reputation for getting too far ahead of ourselves, although on occasion we're known to get excited about something that may have been too good to be true. In this case, we found a video that suggested there would be 8-player co-op in the Perfect Dark Xbox Live Arcade port...it turns out that was the online multiplayer mode. Co-op is still online and offline, but limited to two players in each case.

Bungie Regrets Not Including Matchmaking in Halo 3: ODST

We've previously covered, through various post-mortems and look-back interviews, how Bungie had considered Matchmaking for Halo 3: ODST, but how it was ultimately shot down due to the time and effort that would have been involved with such an undertaking.  Well last Friday OXM UK heard from Bungie's community boss, Brian Jarrard, that Bungie's biggest regret was "not being able to go back and make Firefight in ODST work and have match-making."

Dragon Ball: Origins 2 Trailer Shows Co-Op Action

Yesterday, we brought you word of a new Nintendo DS co-op title, Dragon Ball: Origins 2, that is slated to hit stores this summer.  Today, we bring you the first trailer for the game, which shows off a bit of the co-op challenge mode in action.  Based on what's shown in the trailer, it appears that players will be able to use special co-op attacks to take down bosses and other foes when they team up for the challenges.  Here's hoping this mode is as much fun as it appears to be, and doesn't go down the same path as other titles with these types of challenge modes.
