Our Weekend in Gaming - Snowpocalypse Edition

The North East United States is set to get slammed again with snow as mass chaos ensues.  Grocery stores are out of milk, eggs and bread as people unexpectedly have a craving for French toast during snow storms.  Thankfully being snowed in means plenty of time for gaming...well gaming and other stuff.

Resident Evil 5: Gold Lost In Nightmares Explored

Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition is giving us some pretty snazzy content to go with it. Where did all this content come from merely a year after the full games release? Well, the games director has a bit to say about the "Lost in Nightmares" chapter. "Lost in Nightmares" is the content that fills in the story when Chris and Jill confront Wesker in the mansion. The Directors Blog has some details about where this "deleted scene" came from, and how they fit it in with the Gold content.

The Who's Super Bowl Performance Hits Rock Band Store Sunday Night

We don't usually announce DLC for music games, but in this case, we felt it newsworthy.  Legendary band The Who is playing the halftime show at the Super Bowl (which is touted as taking place in South Florida, not Miami, for some reason).  Perhaps Pete will be smashing his guitar on stage as millions make a run for more chips, dip, and tasty beverages.

Xbox Live Support Ending for Xbox 1 Games on April 15th

It's somewhat of a shocking move, but probably a necessary one, Microsoft is ending Xbox Live functionality for Xbox 1 titles on the original console and those playable on the Xbox 360 through backwards compatibility.  For many, this might not seem to be that big of a deal, as that last time you actually played an original Xbox game was years ago.

It's Co-Op Tower Defense in a Dungeon in Dungeon Defense

Ah, tower defense. What is it about building towers to destroy hordes upon hordes of mobs that's so addicting, yet so very therapeutic? We may never know the answer to this question, but one thing we do know is that as great as tower defense is solo, it becomes infinitely better with co-op play. Dungeon Defense by Trendy Entertainment promises to offer such a co-op tower defense experience, and for the very affordable price of free. The game is being developed with the Unreal Development Kit (UDK), which is the free version of the Unreal Engine 3, and after just four weeks of development the demo is now available to the public.

Co-Op Release Alert: White Knight Chronicles

As if we hadn't been waiting long enough already!  White Knight Chronicles International Edition should be finally available on your friendly neighborhood game store shelves, and is shipping online, as well.  Typically, new releases are on Tuesdays, but in this case, it seems the game was delayed a bit longer.  I know my copy is on its way for delivery tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to summoning giant suits of armor this weekend.  Haven't picked it up yet?  Order from Amazon and help support Co-Optimus!

Diplomacy, Stardock's latest expansion to their popular 4X strategy game Sins of a Solar Empire, is slated to hit any day now.  In anticipation of its release, the company has released a patch that fixes a few known issues with the original game as well as the other expansion pack, Entrenchment.  Additionally, they've released a few more screenshots of Diplomacy that highlight some interesting new features of the expansion, including a new point system that's used for diplomatic relations, and new computer opponent difficulty levels.
