After some speculation earlier today, Ubisoft delivered on their promise and unveiled one of the co-op modes for Rainbow Six: Siege. The infinitely replayable terrorist hunt mode is back with five player co-op through randomly generated missions. The Operator mechanic which was showcased in the game's PvP mode is also in play for co-op, with players taking on special roles in missions.
Ubisoft's E3 2015 press conference just wrapped up and there was a few surprise reveals. The biggest one for co-op fans is a return of the Ghost Recon franchise, this time to next-gen platforms. Revealed was Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands, a four player co-op tactical shooter that looks equal parts Ghost Recon as it does Far Cry.
War never changes in the world of plants and zombies. It is a war that has raged eternal, with plants usually getting the upper hand thanks to player intervention. That changes with the new Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2. While the game was teased during Microsoft's conference earlier in the day, EA's conference had some more details. Specifically that players will be able to team up as zombies to take down the plants.
Microsoft popped the cork on their press conference today by dropping a bunch of surly Spartans right into Halo 5: Guardians. Master Chief has finally gotten fed up with being the universe's most loyal soldier and bounced from his post, meaning this band of roided up space marines are trying to track him down. While the demo (complete with a ton of Covenant-crunching gameplay) focused on one squad of Spartans, Microsoft revealed the campaign will thrust you into the armored boots of two separate groups: those hunting Master Chief, and those lead by Chief himself.
We caught a glimpse of it at last year's E3, but we finally got an extended look at the 1930's style platform shooter, Cuphead, at Microsoft's press conference. The video game lovechild of brothers Chad and Jared Moldenhauer follows the exploits of Cuphead and Mugman, a duo tricked into doing the Devil's bidding after a dice game gone awry.
When the newest generation of consoles debuted at E3 two years ago, one of the biggest gripes players had about them was that previous titles were not supported. Sony eventually revealed PlayStation Now, a kind of rental/streaming service for older titles. Today, Microsoft went one step further and announced that the Xbox One will fully support 360 titles natively.
During Microsoft's E3 2015 Press conference today, Ubisoft took the stage to announce some exclusive details for Xbox One owners. While we've seen The Division delayed until 2016, Xbox One owners will be able to get their hands on the co-op shooter this winter in an open beta test.
XSEED Games is getting ready to release another Earth Defense Force game in North America. Know what that means? Another confusing mess of trans-oceanic naming conventions! Earth Defense Force 2 is making its debut, and it's technically a prequel to the previous games released in the US, which makes sense in other territories since it was actually released before them. Shrug.
The concept of a "dungeon" in video games has gotten kind of nebulous. Let's take Dungeon Defenders II, for instance. Sometimes they're actually in a dungeon, building traps and wasting goblins who are assaulting it. They are truly defending a dungeon. Sometimes they've set up shop in a mine, which, sure. It's a little abstracted, but it's got a "dungeon-y" feel to it. But sometimes those deformed adventurers are just building stuff out in a field and waiting for baddies to come marching on. That's not a dungeon, people!
And now for something completely different: Skylanders with vehicles! The Skylanders series of games and accompanying toys is expanding once again, this time adding multi-terrain vehicles to make life a little more exciting. And dangerous. And, from the looks of it, explodey.
When your name is "Lo Wang," you pretty much have to roll with it. The foul-mouthed hero of Shadow Warrior returns in Shadow Warrior 2, due out sometime in 2016 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. In addition to a slew of new features, weapons, enemies, and locations, SW2 introduces four player co-op to the mix, giving Wang three future-ninjas to kick it with. You and your companions can endure all of the painfully awkward comedy scraped straight from the bottom of the chuckle barrel.
Prior to THQ's bankruptcy and breaking up, Relic Entertainment were the proud bearers of games set within the Warhammer 40k universe. Once that licensed got unleashed upon the world, I've been waiting for someone to make a (good) game that puts me in the shoes of a Terminator and puts me to work killing some Genestealers. My wishes may come true with Space Hulk: Deathwing, the forthcoming FPS from Streum On Studio.
