Free to play ARPG with high level of character customization enters open beta

Path of Exile Begins Open Beta

Path of Exile, a PC Action RPG, entered open beta today. The servers were wiped clean of all closed beta characters just a few hours ago, and there should be no more character wipes, even when the game officially launches. While similarities to Diablo II and other ARPGs can be clearly pointed out, Path of Exile stands apart from the crowd in several ways, including its unique skill system where skills are attached to gems (not the characters) and can be modified with other gems.

Classic co-op? Count me in!

Capcom Arcade Cabinet to Fill XBLA and PSN with Retro Co-Op

Microsoft's Game Room service for Xbox 360 and PC showed a ton of potential. Gamers could purchase individual arcade and console games from within a snazzy client and play them via the magic of legal emulation. Sadly, most of the games were just plain old as opposed to classics, and Microsoft stopped releasing games just as things were starting to pick up. Conspicuously absent were Capcom's phenomenal arcade games... But now Capcom's set to launch its own emulation client, Capcom Arcade Cabinet: Retro Game Collection.

Max Payne 3 Co-Op DLC Available Today

Co-op is finally coming to Max Payne 3. I know, I know, you've heard it all before. The DLC add-on, which will introduce co-op to the franchise, has been delayed over and over again since last summer. I know some of the new game smell of Max Payne 3 may have worn off, especially since it's been out since last May. I played through the campaign and thought it was pretty boss. The final act is particularly awesome. Co-op couldn't hurt.

Inching ever closer to an official release.

Firefall Public Beta Starts January 25th

Firefall has been in beta for what seems like forever, but up until this point, you had to have been accepted to try out the five player co-op game.  This weekend though, that's all about to change, as Red 5 Studios is opening up the servers for anyone who signs up.  The beta kicks off at 10AM PST on January 25th and will run until 11:59PM PST on January 27th.  It's a short beta, but you'll definitely want to check it out to get a feel for the free to play shooter.

An addictive strategy and action game all for free.

Kingdom Conquest II Hits iOS and Android with Co-Op Dungeons

SEGA have released a new free to play game on iOS and Android which mixes strategy and base building with real time combat sections.  It's called Kingdom Conquest II - a game that thrusts players into different classes of characters.  As we said the game is split between two sections, in the main strategy part of the game you'll be building up your base, collecting resources, training units, and conquering lands.  In the battle section of the game you'll face multi-level dungeons in 3rd person combat.  It's the latter sections that allow for some truly fun co-op gameplay, as these dungeons can be tackled with up to three additional players.

Get your monster hunting fix on the Wii addressed before the end of April

Monster Hunter Tri Servers Shutting Down

Looks like some Wii monsters will soon be safe from the maiming weapons of aspiring monster hunter groups. The online multiplayer servers for Monster Hunter Tri, the Wii version of the popular franchise, are coming down April 30th. While hardcore fans will likely be in the midst of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (which drops March 31st on the Wii U and 3DS), fans who don't have those systems or don't want to buy the game right away will have to go about monster slaying without their online buddies from May onward.

Dead Space 3 Public Demo Now Available, Weapon Crafting System Will Feature Micro-Transactions

The Dead Space 3 public demo is available now on the Xbox 360. It will be available later today when the PlayStation Network receives its regular update. Nick and I played through the demo cooperatively last week and offered our impressions here. You can co-op the demo yourself with on online partner. I don't mean to tell you your business, but you should probably check it out. It was good enough to inspire me to start playing the original Dead Space again.
