The Xbox Live Countdown to 2013 Sale Knocks Co-Op Prices Way Down

We're a smidge late in reporting this since it started on Tuesday, but the Xbox Live Countdown to 2013 Sale may be the single best sale the Xbox 360 has ever had. Each day until December 31st consists of themed daily sales, with today's Platformers sale knocking co-op standout Rayman Origins down to just ten bucks. And on top of that, more than ten XBLA and Games on Demand titles are on sale for the diration of the promotion, such as fantastic co-op titles Sonic 4 Episode II and Simpsons Arcade. Head past the break to find out which games feature cooperative multiplayer!

Dark and foreboding. Looks about right.

New Dark Souls II Concept Art

New concept art has appeared on the Japanese Dark Souls II website. The recently added image gallery is primarily made up of stills from the sexy announcement trailer that debuted at the Spike TV VGAs. That's nice, but the last eleven images are really interesting. A handful of new environments, items, and ghoulish enemies can be found in the gallery. That badass chariot up there is part of the set. I may be mistaken, but that appears to be a two headed undead horse. Fantastic.

THQ Files for Bankruptcy, Reveals New Co-Op Game by Left 4 Dead Devs

THQ, publisher of such co-op titles as Saints Row The Third, Dawn of War 2, and 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, have filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in the United States to bring them out of some troubled financials that have plagued the company over the past few years.  Since 2009 the publisher has tried to reinvent itself and image, trim the fat so to speak,  focus only on top tier titles to stay afloat, and even offer up their games on the Humble Bundle website - sadly it seems nothing has worked.

Discover the first sequel to River City Ransom

Co-Op International: Downtown Special

Co-Op International has already looked at the little-known Japanese Turbografx CD version of River City Ransom. This time we return with a River City Ransom sequel/spin-off that was never released outside of Japan. Downtown Special – Kunio-Kun no Jidaigeki Dayo Zenin Shuugou! for the Famicom (Japanese NES) looks and plays even better than River City Ransom, but it takes place in Japan. And thanks to the magic of an English translation patch, anyone with an NES emulator can fully enjoy it.

Sony Announces Soul Sacrifice Pre-Orders to Get Upgraded to Premium Edition

Soul Sacrifice is getting a good amount of hype. The upcoming 4-player co-op game for the Vita has the interesting premise that great power can only be obtained through severe sacrifice, as players will have to sacrifice pieces of their avatar's body to cast spells. A demo for Japanese users was recently announced, and now details on a special pre-order incentive have surfaced.
