Realms of Ancient War Dungeon-Crawling Its Way to You in 2012

It's been (and is continuing to be) a good year for those of us who are fans of the dungeon crawler/hack-and-slash genre. I used to have to search long and hard for a console dungeon crawler, but this year has provided a vertiable bounty of them what with Dungeon Hunter Alliance, D&D Daggerdale, and Dungeon Siege 3 out already (wow, lots of D's in these names), and Torchlight 2, LOTR: War in the North, Crimson Alliance, and hell, even possibly the elusive Diablo III beta anticipated for this summer. That's a heck of a lot of dungeon crawlers!

CCV Blog Update June, Week 4

It's the week four round-up for the month of June's blog topic: Co-Optimus Community Voice, Photograph My Gaming Rig. For the month of June we've just been asking for your photos, not your lengthy thoughts on the screen. Photos of your gaming rig - big, small, intricate or simple. The two we have this week are from staff members, a sleek PC/console office setup and a comfy couch setting where split-screen is king.

Our Weekend in Gaming - Trenched in F.E.A.R. Edition

The Staff seems to have their gaming hands firmly in the dirt playing Trenched on Xbox Live Arcade.  With good reason too - it's damn fun.  Another co-op game that's been gracing our visual palettes is F.E.A.R. 3 with a surprisingly wide array of co-op modes.  It's hard to believe there are so many solid co-op releases this summer already - but there are - and that's a good thing I suppose.

Saints Row: The Third 8 Minute Redux

No, you are not having deja vu.  We ran this video from Saints Row: The Third about a week and half ago.  It was pretty good then, but you'll probably find it even better now.  (Not that there's anything wrong with Daemon Hatfield.  He's positively dreamy.)  You'll see this is a cleaner version of the video, with some added developer commentary from Volition's Drew Holmes.  If you didn't catch  the vid before, now's your chance.  It's got people-sploding fists, air strikes, tanks, giant novelty sex toys, the ridin'-the-pony-gettin'-some-dance, and ladies getting punched in the baby-maker.  Just click the "Read More" button.  I guarantee you won't have to read during the video.

Brink DLC Expected in Early July, Free for First Two Weeks of Availability

The first DLC for Brink is expected to be out early this July.  The Agents of Change pack will have two new stages, a new ability for each class, two new weapon attachments, and two new outfits so you can play dress up with your friends.  You can see them all detailed here.  The new abilities may look familiar to anyone who hit the level cap.  They pop up when you hit level 20, then disappear.  At least they used to, this may have been patched away by now.  I'll finally get to use those Napalm Grenades I unlocked back in May!

Co-Op Casual Friday: Defenders of the Realm

It's time once again for more board game coverage for Co-Op Casual Friday. Today, we take a look at Defenders of the Realm, an excellent co-op game that blends concepts from Pandemic with fantasy characters who would be very much at home in any D&D campaign.

TMNT: Turtles Running Out of Time, Being Pulled from XBLA and PSN

It seems that Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo and Leonardo are running out of time.  Like other digital content, it seems that the game isn't meant to live forever.  According to Ubisoft, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Reshelled is being pulled from the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network on June 30th due to an "expiring license."  This only appears to affect the US region.

PS3 Bundles Are Coming This July

Sony is giving some of their iconic games new love this July.  We recently reported on a Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 bundle.   It looks like the compilation will have company.  According to CVG.com, a listing for an Uncharted 1 and 2 bundle appeared on a retail website earlier today.  The page has since been removed, but SCEE confirmed the bundle.  There will also be a Ratchet and Clank pack which will include the games R&C: Tools of Destruction and R&C: A Crack in Time.  The bundles will offer assorted extras like dynamic themes, avatars, or exclusive skins that tie into each game's upcoming sequel.  The best part?  All of these bundles will be released on July 22!

Two Sweet Twisted Metal Videos Showcasing Sweet Bot

In case you missed it, we got some hands-on time with the upcoming Twisted Metal reboot, nostalgically  titled Twisted Metal.  We were excited to see a vehicle transform into a walking death-bot.  We were doubly excited to hear that the game will have a cooperative campaign.  The following videos focus on the maniacal ice cream truck driver, Sweet Tooth.  Fans of the old games will be able to pick out the bizarrely distorted laugh that the character was known for.  You can also see some of the Capture the Leader and Boss elements mentioned in our preview.
