The story of three heroes continues

Trine 2 Co-Op Night - March 16th

A knight, a thief and a wizard walk into a bar. The knight clears the way to the bar, the wizard levetates the bartender, and the thief quickly nabs the cash from the cash register. Then they all run like hell. I bet you thought there was a punch line coming... I'm not that clever. That's just my plan for my Trine themed bar heist. I'm pretty quick with my hands, so I think I'd make a good thief. I just need a knight and a wizard to complete my team. Any volunteers? No?

This Week in Co-Op: Bite Sized Morsels

For the past month or so, I've been in a bit of a gaming funk. My loyal ten-year old co-op partner and I have pretty much wrapped up all the games in our collection. The War in the North was ended successfully, and we managed to survive Raam's Shadow, leaving very little in the backlog. So, we scrolled through the long list of Xbox Live Arcade games to see what struck our fancy for our gaming time this week. There are literally dozens of games there that are perfect for short bursts of co-op gameplay before dinner.

Ninja Gaiden 3 Launch Trailer Features Pain, Swords, and a Dinosaur

One of gaming's most punishing franchises returns to consoles next week.  Ninja Gaiden 3 will continue the tradition of being painfully difficult.  I remember my time with 2004's Ninja Gaiden remake on the original Xbox.  I tapped out around the third stage.  I think I was fighting on a blimp, or something.  I just remember hating every enemy, including the scrubs.  Since then the series has become more accessible.  You can always increase the difficulty if you're a masochist.

EA will shut down servers for more games on April 13th

EA to Shut Down Online Servers for Spare Parts

Yup, it's happening again. EA has announced that they will be shutting down more servers for several more games. And once again, a co-op title is affected. This time, LEGO-esque downloadable title Spare Parts is getting the bat.  You'll probably remember that this has happened before to another co-op game, Army of Two. That game, though, at least had a few years of online play available to gamers. Spare Parts, however, has only been out for a little more than a year. Though we felt the game had its share of flaws, it's still a sad day to see an online or offline co-op title lose the whole "online" bit.

Shoot Many Robots Co-Op Review

Shoot Many Robots is the metaphorical tale of one man's struggle to discover what it means to still be human in a soulless world filled with faceless, servile automatons. Nah, I'm kidding. You shoot robots in the face, and when they don't have faces you just use your best judgement and shoot whatever looks important. Shoot Many Robots. That's what you do. Need to know more? Check out our Co-Op Review.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Content Drop #1 Spec-Ops Impressions

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's first major content pack is upon us and with it comes two brand new cooperative missions.  We went through the original Spec-Ops missions extensively and for the most part, these are some of the best Call of Duty set pieces to date, especially since they are meant to be experienced with a buddy.  On top of these there's a handful of new maps for Modern Warfare 3's survival mode.

Borderlands 2 is More Co-Op, More Dubstep

It's only been a few weeks since we've seen the best trailer in videogames this year.  Borderlands 2 looks to be bigger, better and more badass than the original in many ways.  Game Informer has an interview with the game's writer Anthony Burch and concept artist Scott Kester in which they chat about the changes coming to the sequel, including details on the new characters, abilities, and story.

One card game to rule them all?

Tabletop Co-Op: Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

The Lord of the Rings saga has always been popular, but perhaps never before has it been as mainstream as it is now. A decade ago, the movie trilogy brought orcs, elves, and dwarves into theaters and then our living rooms as never before. Later this year, the long delayed film based on the Hobbit will be released. For Tabletop Co-Op this month, we'll look at a card game based on Tolkien's magnificent setting.
