Bulletstorm Co-Op Review

Bulletstorm is a new IP in a sea of first person shooters. Will the mighty Unreal Engine, a unique Skill Shot system, adult language, and gratuitous, over-the-top-violence set it apart from the FPS pack? Check out our Co-Op Review to see if it's a contender, or just a bloody bag of meat.

Magicka: Vietnam Announced, Ooma-Mow-Wow Magic Cow

Sometimes you just have to go with it.  After we were told to expect the unexpected for Paradox's GDC announcement concerning Magicka - I gotta say - I never expected THIS.  Today they've announced the first full expansion pack for the game called Magicka: Vietnam.  It's exactly what you think it is - a bunch of wizards running around the Vietnam War making quick work of the enemy soldiers with lightning, fire, and anything else they can conjure.

Portal 2 Achievements Take the Co-Op Cake

We're only about a month and a half away from Portal 2's imminent release.  Yes, it looks like Valve's sequel is finally going to see the light of day after a handful of delays.  One reason we're such firm believers in this, the game's achievements have been revealed.  Normally this means a game has been added to Xbox Live's database or played online.  Of course these achievements will most likely mirror the Steam Achievements and PlayStation 3 trophies as well.

New Video for Yar's Revenge Features Bugs, Weapons, and Gameplay Footage

A few months ago we brought you news that Atari is remaking the Atari 2600 classic, Yar's Revenge.  The staff member (hint: it was me) who posted the article was a little distraught over the new look of "Yar."  The main protagonist of the game is no longer a bad-a$$ metallic fly, but is now a half-armored anime girl.  Remember the slow death currently happening to the Japanese game industry?  Can we please stop emulating them? I've seen a lot of half-dressed anime babes in gaming, I cannot say the same for giant metal death flies.

Vintage Beat 'Em Up Goes Mobile: Double Dragon iPhone

Everything old is new again, it seems.  Retro remakes are all the rage right now, and with so many different systems to release on, anyone can have easy access to the classics of yesteryear.  One such vintage powerhouse coming to a phone near you is Double Dragon.  If you're not familiar with Double Dragon, stop what you are doing and read the Co-Op Classics article covering it; it's one of the most influential games of all time, particularly from a co-op standpoint.  A few years back, Billy and Jimmy made their way onto XBLA, and next month, they're headed to iOS devices.

Guitar Hero is Not Dead Yet, Thanks to You!

Thanks to massive fan support, (or an overwhelming desire to cash in) DLC for the Guitar Hero franchise is not quite dead yet.  We previously reported that Activision had dissolved their Guitar Hero division in response to the poor performance of music games in general.   New DLC was no longer going to be available after February.  It seems that pumping out a new game every couple of months has repercussions when considering the rule of supply and demand.  (When's that new Call of Duty game coming out again?)

Serious Sam 3: BFE Will Support 16 Player Co-Op, Plus New Screens

Serious Sam 3: BFE will be coming out this summer, and the producers couldn't be happier.  In a boisterous new press release developer Croteam and producer Devolver Digital express excitement akin to a child opening a new present on Christmas day.  There were some questions as to what, exactly, the "BFE" stood for in the new title.  Serious Sam 3: BFE is a prequel, so the "BFE" stands for "Before the First Encounter."  The game also takes place in 22nd century Egypt, so take what you want from that.

Co-op Release Alert: Dawn of War II: Retribution

We've done some ranting and raving here about Dawn of War 2. From an interview about the original Dawn of War 2, to a video review of its expansion, Chaos Rising, to co-op nights and no too few This Week In Co-op sessions, DoW2 has gotten some significant play-time around here. I think it's fair to say we enjoy it. Good news for us then, because DoW2's stand-alone expansion, Dawn of War 2: Retribution, releases tomorrow. DoW2: Retribution will be abandoning the Games for Windows support in favor of Steamworks. The campaign will also let you play as more than just the Space Marines (yay!), letting you also control the Tyranids, Chaos Marines, Orks, Eldar, and Imperial Guard in full co-op support.
