Is Couch Co-Op Gaming Dying?

We've all heard it before - "Couch co-op gaming is dying." Most of us simply shake our head and nod in agreement, but perhaps it's not doing quite as bad as we previously thought. Microsoft's first home console turns ten

Co-Op Classics: Happy 10th Birthday, Xbox!

This past week marks the tenth anniversary of the release of two co-op consoles. On November 15, 2001, Microsoft entered the video game hardware market with the original Xbox. Just three days later, the veterans at Nintendo released their offering, the GameCube. Besides very similar names, the two systems shared at least one more attribute. They both brought new innovations to our favorite aspect of video gaming: cooperative play. This week, we'll cover the first of these systems, the Xbox.

Our Weekend in Gaming - Our Skyrim has a Halo Anniversary Edition

Despite us having a co-op focused site, Skyrim has reminded the staff that single player gaming ain't all that bad.  Don't worry, we'll all be co-oping plenty in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary which many of the staff are rediscovering is much more fun than they remember.  Now if only the Master Chief could shoot down some dragons or perhaps the Dovahkiin could shout a Covenant elite to death.  Hmmmm....I smell DLC.

Ion Assault HD Coming to the PlayStation Network

Better late than never?  Ion Assault HD, a very nice looking twin stick shooter, is coming to the PlayStation Network.  It debuted  on the Xbox LIVE Arcade over two years ago, Steam last year, and it's finally making the jump to Sony's big black box.  We liked the game back then, giving it a 4 out of 5 in our Co-Op Review.  The game will actually be called Ion Assault HD, but it will offer more than just high definition.  The PSN version will feature a new location and six extra levels.  The entire campaign can be played with a friend.  Check out the following trailer for a taste of eye candy.

Capcom Clarifies Resident Evil: Revelations Co-Op Access

Yesterday there were some troubling stories circulating around the internet concerning the co-op mode of Resident Evil: Revelations.  It was reported that the two player cooperative "Raid Mode" would be unlocked only after the single player campaign was completed.  The single player portion of the game has been reported to take 10 hours to complete.  That's a long time to go without co-op.  It turns out this is not the case.
