Borderlands, a Co-Optimus favorite, is on sale.  Amazon.com has the Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition for 50% off today only.  The Borderlands GOTY edition normally goes for $39.99, but now you can pick it up for twenty bucks.  Each DLC of Borderlands was originally $10 when first released, so frivolous gamers could have easily spent $100 dollars on the game and all of the DLC together.  Boy, you sure were smart to wait for the price to drop!  Now you can pick up Borderlands, The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, and Claptrap's New Robot Revolution, all for $20.00. Looking at a sequel always gives players an expectation about a game. With The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile the sequel is so much a sequel to the original game there isn’t much to compare - well, unless you count co-op. That’s what we did, scrutinize the co-op. What did we have to say about it? Well...

It’s true that games vary in length and content depending on the title, and type of gameplay experience expected. For some people short games are too short, and for others long games are too long. This months blog topic: "CCV: tl;dr" covers either of these situations.

After giving Dawn of War 2: Retribution an impressive 4.5 just a week and a half ago, we're certainly happy to hear about how Relic plans to continue to support their fantasticly co-opable RTS. As it so happens, two servings of DLC will be offered up this coming Wednesday, April 6th.

Welcome to Beyond Co-Op, a weekly piece that talks about industry stories that may or may not be related to co-op gaming.

It's time once again for a board game edition of Co-Op Casual Friday. Today, we'll discuss one such game as we take a journey back to the time of King Arthur and Merlin; can you work together to overcome the Shadows Over Camelot?

The key word this weekend would appear to be "busy".  Several staff members have plans that will interfere with gaming.  More's the pity, but such is life.  A few appearances by Nintendo's new 3D handheld as well as a couple new releases highlight the lists this weekend.

Mutants everywhere rejoice!  Apparently, one of Professor X's mutant powers is to go on sale on the day when no one believes anything they read on the internet.  Today only, X-Men Arcade, the Xbox Live Arcade version, specifically, is on sale for 75% off.  That's 200 MS points, or two fiddy in US dollars.  You'll recall we were quite impressed with the update of the early 90s classic.  Any fan of co-op should go get a copy immediately, at this price.  But hurry, the deal will BAMF away, just like Nightcrawler, very soon.

When looking at game design, a few things are necessary in order for co-op to work properly. Most of these things gamers don’t think about on a day to day basis - and it’s not covered in our Co-Op Terminology guide. It’s the core principles for getting players to work together, which Ubisoft designer Patrick Redding disclosed at GDC. He talks about moments where he is very satisfied with during the co-op test phase, and things that every developer (should) think about during co-op development.

Being careful while reading a press release has never been easier than when Twisted Pixel announced a partnership with Home Depot to deliver a Gunstringer Marionette Controller. The project was originally codenamed "Project 144in. x 1-1/4in. Pine Round Dowel," and at first I was like "...What the?" And then I remembered what day it is.

Anyone that knows me knows that I'm a HUGE fan of Smash T.V.  The original two player co-op arcade game has a place near and dear to my heart.  So when Uber Entertainment decided to create a new version of the game for their April Fools joke utilizing Monday Night Combat characters I was both amazed, excited and heart broken all within the same 10 second span.  It even has four player co-op.   You're killing me Uber...you're killing me.

Warhawk 2 was recently seen at a super secret SCEA event. JustPushStart.com claims that select players of the PS3 launch title were invited to play, and no cameras were allowed.  This story may sound like a crappy April Fool's joke, but the story has had a week to marinate, and no one has denied it, yet.  Co-op play has been listed among the games features, and there is reportedly and actual story mode.  You can read more features after the break.  Right now, Warhawk 2 is rumored to hit the PS3 in 2012.
