We've just received a bunch of new details and screens for the Techland developed Dead Island. It was a game that suddenly jumped back on everyone's radar after being in hiding for almost three years. But the game came back with a vengeance thanks to a horrifically emotional trailer released yesterday and boy are we glad it did.
People don't typically think of the de Blob series has the pinnacle of high definition and home theater entertainment - after all - the first game was a low-def Wii only affair. But all that has changed with de Blob 2 which will hit the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as well as the Nintendo Wii when it launches next week. Further, the game will actually support 3D visuals on the PS3 and 360 making it an unlikely candidate to show off your swanky new 3D HDTV.
To untether something is to release it, to set it free. It's also the title for the newest trailer for id Software's RAGE - no doubt alluding to everyone's first real look at the game. One surprising thing about the trailer is the tone it sets, with light guitar musical track written by Mark Lanegan that makes the setting feel more western than apocalyptic. Of course the whole sheriff like character in a cowboy hat only adds to this motiff.
RIFT is an upcoming MMORPG from developer Trion. Take a look at some of the unique cooperative aspects this game has to offer which include the Soul System and Dynamic Events (rifts and invasions).
Demiurge Studios have announced their a brand new original title today called Shoot Many Robots, the Boston area developer had previously contributed work to games like Bioshock, Mass Effect and Borderlands. Shoot Many Robots is a side scrolling four player co-op shooter where players...kill toasters. Well not just toasters, but lots of robotic enemies both big and small.

The trailer is as brutal as it is beautiful, taking our generation's already unhealthy obsession of zombies to a new, more sadistic plane of thought.
Have you not picked up Sony's big black box yet? Well, now may be the time to act. On February 22, the PS3 and Killzone 3 package will be available. The good folks over at CVG spotted the bundle listed on Amazon.com, and Sony recently confirmed it. Here's a little pro tip; if you can find it on Amazon, then it's probably real. They don't make stuff up for fun. (Unless it's George R. R. Martin's A Dance of Dragons. That's been listed since 2008, and it is never coming out. Curse you, Zach G.)
Developer Maxis looks to be ironing out the kinks in Darkspore before its March 29th release. The game is currently in private testing, but a public beta will be accessible this Friday, February 18th. Players will get early access to all the four player co-op action and hero editing they can handle. The new trailer boasts plenty of collecting, customization, and combat. Out today on Xbox Live Arcade is Hard Corps: Uprising - a game set in the Contra series which features two player local or online co-op. Developed by Arc System Works, famous for their Blaz Blue series, the game is beautifully hand drawn and animated giving it a unique look that separates it from other games in the series.
Painkiller Redemption is a new stand alone expansion pack for the Painkiller series which promises dozens of new levels in a seven to ten hour campaign with over 6000 "uniquely spawned monsters." The best part about this expansion, which supports four player online or LAN co-op, is the price - $5. A little math reveals a CPDM (Cost Per Dead Monster) ratio of just .083 cents - seems like quite the bargain to me.
