As far as innovations in co-op, I would dare to say social features like Friend's List and party chat.They were necessary elements that at least at the beginning of the console online service were geared towards MP games. As there wasn't any (or hardly any) online co-op games on the consoles last generation.These may have existed before in some way, but only until they were executed for consoles did devs really take advantage of the co-op capabilities platforms offer.
