Beyond Co-Op Review: Rogue Legacy

“My mother never came back from this castle. The only keepsake we have is the money she sent back, which wasn’t even enough for me to buy a new shield from the blacksmith. Did I see a hint of sadness in his eyes when I told him what I was doing? Did the gypsy woman cackle slightly? It makes no matter. Like my mother, and her father before her, and his father before him, and his mother before him, I, too, approach the gate to this abominable fortress. The gatekeeper smiles knowingly as I pay him his fee for entrance. He knows as well as I. For my family, there is nothing else. This is our inheritance, our curse, our promise to our progeny. This... is our legacy.”

Beyond Co-Op Review: The Walking Dead, Episode 1 - A New Day

In the realm of video games, there are those games (broadly speaking) that fall into the category of “games,” and those that fall into the category of “stories through the medium of games.” Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead fits into the latter of those two. Yes, it employs gameplay mechanics that would be familiar to any adventure gamer of the past 10 years, as well as a few “quicktime lite” events, yet those mechanics serve merely to transition you from one story element to another. It is the action that sets up the next plot point or dilemma. As a game, The Walking Dead: Episode 1 has its flaws and detractors, but as a story, it is every bit as compelling as the comics upon which it is based.

The spring gaming season is in full bloom and plenty of big name releases are hitting the store shelves to fill up what gaming time you may have. So amidst all of this, why would you give a game that’s already a month old a second look? Fair question, but stay awhile and listen; Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning has a few tricks up its action-RPG sleeves that hopefully will prove it to be a worthwhile gaming experience for you.

I haven't heard anything specific, though in some of the materials/interviews I'm seeing of it lately, looks like the updates will be baked into the console version. Either that, or will be applied shortly after release

@MadSavery thanks for pointing that out. The game pages have been updated to reflect the combo co-op. From: Diablo III Console Screens and Video Shows off Co-Op in Action

Yeah, it's definitely a fun game they've got going. They've set the unlockable characters down to 10 now, so that's a little more reasonable From: MechKnight Chronicles to Enter the Brawler Fray

The game is still in a pre-alpha stage, so I'm sure they're tweaking things

Dinosaur is interested in bringing it to PAN and XBLA, though the first stop is PC. It's a case where they need some initial support/groundswell from their Steam Greenlight to help pave the wave for other ports. So if you're interested in seeing it elsewhere, give a thumbs up now on Steam! From: MechKnight Chronicles to Enter the Brawler Fray
