My Thoughts For The Next Generation

I've always felt MS was fairly evil, but after the details of what they're doing with the Xbox One, I can no longer tolerate their anti-consumer BS. DRM, fees, spyware, restrictions on used/rented games, and the list goes on. I've heard the opinion that MS is dragging everyone into the future. You know what? F#$% that kind of future, where gamers get stomped on in the name of making money. How can anyone stand by MS when they fully admit they spit on used game retailers and their fanbase in general? It boggles the mind. I don't much like the idea of DRM every 24 hours while that Kinect I'll never use spies on me.

Standing on the Console Precipice

Console gaming is beginning to wear on me. It's not so much the expense of console games, it's other issues I'm really not liking. I'm standing on the cliff, and about to jump off into the PC ocean again. Prior to buying an Xbox 360 in August 2008, I pretty much only did PC gaming. I did have consoles too, but once I learned how ...

The Joy of Emulation

Probably one of the greatest things I discovered when I got my first decent PC and got into computer stuff was of course free porn, then P2P, then MAME. I remember reading about it in a small article in EGM magazine. I thought "Wow I can play old arcade games on my PC? Awesome!" Then I discovered that older consoles that I loved as a k...

The Shallow Talent Pool

Paul Eiding. Steve Blum. Jennifer Hale. Tara Strong. Nolan @#$%ing North. Recognize these names? If you don't you should, because I dare you to name one game where one of these people isn't a voice actor in it. They're everywhere. There's even Youtube videos about Nolan @#$%ing North being in EVERYTHING. Here are some of their ro...

Mission: Co-optible

For several years I've had this idea for a co-op game bounce around my mind. I've always loved the Mission: Impossible franchise; the movies, the old shows, even some of the crappy games that have been released under its name. What amazes me is that M:I is based on teamwork to pull off objectives, and there's never been a co-op game ...

@Bob You're thinking of the Dark Alliance games. Those are hack 'n slash action RPGs. Other than the Baldur's Gate name they're almost completely different in gameplay. This game is a more traditional RPG.

And so begins the new era of season passes, microtransactions, and overpriced DLC.

"Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator is a co-op only game, there's no solo mode for those evenings you're feeling antisocial. It supports two to six locally or online, but we don't have to tell you that local play will be much more awesome."

Oops. Well there's $6.99 out the window. I bought this thinking it'd be like Bridge Commander.
