Our Weekend In Gaming: Everything Is eSports Edition

Welcome back to the weekend, fellow co-op enthusiasts!  This time around, the Co-opticrew is quickly realizing that nearly anything can be eSports if you try hard enough: jetpack shooting, car soccer, furniture packing, even wedding photos!  I actually lettered in wedding photos my senior year of high school.  Would've gotten a scholarship too, if I hadn't sprained my index finger at a particularly raucous reception.

Triple the adjectives, triple the excitement.

Super Mutant Alien Assault Is Bringing Multiple Adjectives To Steam On August 20th

Sci-fi media treats robots with such disregard.  They're there to be used for whatever mundane purpose, and then immediately tossed aside.  It's just not fair!  What if they wanted to become chefs instead of floor sweepers, or floor sweepers instead of mine sweepers?  On August the 20th, you can fight for robot freedom in Super Mutant Alien Assault.  Prove to the world that robots can do all kinds of things, as long as they include slicing and dicing mutant aliens in a ridiculously cramped environment.

Just kidding, that's not for at least another 3 years.

Our Weekend In Gaming: The Dystopian Future Is Now Edition

Another workweek is in the books, but the Co-opticrew remains as busy as ever.  Some of us are embracing our dystopian future and playing exclusively phone games, and others are enjoying something called "real life(?)", but a few brave souls are keeping the true video game dream alive via monster hunting, arena shooting, and organizational feud simulation.

Yeah, can I get a side of Banjo-Kazooie with that?

Our Weekend In Gaming: Old Dog, New Tricks Edition

After what felt like the world's fastest week, we return with another edition of Weekend in Gaming.  Due to the relatively light assortment of newly released games, we're all retreating back into our ur-caves to play the games we already know and love.  Sports entertainment will also serve as a point of interest, with both soccer and the stadium-filling DotA 2 on display.  Who cares about all that, though, when we've got Trine 2 heading directly into our retinas thanks to Eric and the F.A.L.C.O squad!  Be sure to check 'em out this evening.

Friday Awesomely Live Co-Op is awesome and live on Fridays!

F.A.L.C.O. Episodes 1 And 2 Available For Your Viewing Pleasure

We've kicked off a new series of streams on our Twitch channel called Friday Awesomely Live Co-Op or F.A.L.C.O. if pronounceable acronyms are your thing. For now, we're playing every Friday night at 9PM Central, although we may adjust times as needed. We'll play a variety of games but we'll be focusing on games that emphasize co-operation.

Join The Co-Optimus Team! We're Looking for a new Writer

Co-Optimus has been around now for almost 8 years, and as is with anything on the internet, things change and evolve over time quite rapidly. The site has seen many great staff members come and go, move on to bigger things or simply have life get in the way. But like a good co-op partner our staff remains close and in constant communication, always talking about the latest and greatest in co-op gaming. It's time to expand that circle!

Boards, and the games that come with them.

Our Weekend in Gaming: Summer Doldrums Edition

When summer rages all around us, the "New Games" bucket gets pretty sparse. The Doldrums are in full swing here at Co-Optimus, and with no new games to feast upon we've got to rely on our friends and family for amusement. Maybe play some games of the non-video variety as well. Nick's out of town, and Enoch's toiling away in the Roleplaying Mines at Gen Con. The rest of us plan on pecking away at our backlogs, adventuring in space, and playing all sorts of games that involve boards.

OWC 1TB Hybrid Upgrade Kit for Xbox One Review

Both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 launched with just 500GB of disk storage. And while this might have sounded like an enormous amount to owners of the previous generation of consoles, the jump from these older boxes in terms of graphical fidelity meant this space would only be enough for a dozen or less games. We’re now just starting to see systems ship with 1TB internally. If your’re an early adopter you can add storage yourself to you Xbox One simply by plugging in a USB 3.0 drive. But which one do you choose?

Tabletop Co-Op: Lord of the Rings Nazgul

For this installment of Tabletop Co-Op, we travel to one of the most well-known locations in all of fantasy literature: Middle Earth. The setting is a rich one, and has inspired countless video games as well as card and board games. The idea of a group of men, elves, dwarves, and hobbits teaming up to take on the relentless invading forces of an ev...

Our Weekend In Gaming: Card Games Edition

Howdy, y'all!  Summer is starting to close up shop for the year, but that certainly won't stop us from staying indoors and playing video games all day.  For us, the weekend holds dungeons, heists, virtual trading cards, and lots of portable gaming.  Be sure to check out our very own Eric Murphy tonight as he and some pals stream their adventures in the fantastic indie title, Monaco!
