The latest update to Assassin's Creed Unity comes with a batch of other fixes to the game, but the main feature is that all of the chests that were locked either by the "Initiates" program or the companion app. So now when you come across these chests in the game you can freely open them and get the contents inside. That's it. If you never even touched the companion app or Initiates stuff, you still don't!

Previously only available to Season Pass holders and those aforementioned pre-order gamblers, the pack contains three brand new story missions:  The Chemical Revolution, The American Prisoner, and Killed by Science.  The last two missions sound like the titles of pulpy 1960s spy novels, which, come to think of it, would actually be perfect for the Assassin's Creed universe.

If you purchased Unity, you were entitled to a few concessions, including the free "Dead Kings" DLC, out now. The Xbox One received their freebie yesterday, while PS4 and PC Assassins needed to wait until today to claim their prize.

While the game had launched with plenty of bugs and issues, now as it approaches its fourth patch Assassin's Creed Unity is shaping up to be a solid game in the series. Personally I find the co-op an absolute blast to play online with up to three additional friends. 

This fourth patch, appropriately titled "Patch 4", looks to finally put the game into the state the developers originally intended.  For transparency's sake, Ubisoft has been very clear about the issues with the game and their attempts to fix them.  This specific patch has not yet been detailed in full, but a list of top priority issues have been provided that will likely be its focus:

It looks like Ubisoft is REALLY taking care of Season pass holders, offering them new releases like Far Cry 4, The Crew, and others free of charge. Everyone else is going to get the first DLC, "Dead Kings" free as well.

Going into Patch #3, players should see significant improvements to the framerate, as well as other bugs addressed. Be forewarned that further framerate issues will be touched upon in future patches already in the works), just in-case you still see some surfacing. Additionally, many multiplayer bugs have been fixed, so things on that front should be at least a little better. The first console to receive Patch 3 will be the PS4, releasing tomorrow November 26th. Both the Xbox One and PC will receive their patches later on this week, though no specific date has been announced as of yesterday.
