While there are four titles offered in Microsoft’s Games With Gold, Battlefield 3 is what we here at Co-Optimus are excited about. Battlefield 3 was 2011’s version of the popular Battlefield series before the series explored a cops and robbers style slant in Battlefield Hardline, after which, the series returned to its military roots for 2016’s most recent installment into the series, Battlefield 1. The game features multiplayer as well as co-op gameplay with the latter coming in the shape of missions. Battlefield 3 Is Free on PC This Week

One of the things the company has been doing is offering a different game for free everyweek. So far we've seen titles like Dragon Age, Dead Space, and Plants vs Zombies given out to users simply by firing up the client and adding it to their cart. Today, EA has made Battlefield 3 free until June 3rd, 2014.

I know some of you think EA is an all-powerful, nightmarish entity that usually passes time by eating children and kicking puppies, but when the publishing juggernaut is not being evil it happens to put out some pretty cool games.

Battlefield 4 Confirmed by EA, No Details On Co-Op Yet

Battlefiled 4 has been confirmed by Electronic Arts in a video on the official Medal of Honor website. In true EA fashion, customers who pre order Medal of Honor: Warfighter will receive access to the Battlefield 4 beta. The beta is scheduled for the fall of 2013 with more details trickling out in the next twelve months.

More news is storming the internet today as E3 2012 progresses. We've got details from EA's press conference regarding a premium service for Battlefield 3. Previous rumors have been confirmed: Battlefield 3 Premium is a DLC bundle, similar to Gears of War 3's Season Pass. In essence, by paying up front for all five pieces of DLC, Premium members will save $25 and have access to content two weeks before anyone else. Other perks include exclusive items like an ACB-90 knife and unique dogtags. Sounds like a great deal for fans of EA's flagship shooter.

So it might not be real gameplay footage, but Freddie Wong of YouTube fame is back with another great gaming related video. This time it's his take on the Battlefield franchise - and I don't mean this take. Titled Battlefield 4 Co-Op the video looks at a pair of soldiers working together to take down some enemy combatants. There's some slick nods to things you'd only see in Battlefield games and the audio and look of the video is pretty spot on.

The greatest war represented on video game consoles this generation is not set in World War 2, modern times, or even the future - it’s the war between the Call of Duty franchise and everyone else. EA has tried once before to settle the score, taking CoD head on with their Medal of Honor franchise with little effect. The latest attack has come in the form of Battlefield 3, a franchise who’s roots are in the PC but found new life with the Bad Company series on consoles. Battlefield 3 spans both PC and console and is definitely EA’s answer to Call of Duty, but does the focus on this war cost Battlefield 3 what has defined the series?

Did you stay up to the wee hours of the morning waiting to unlock Battlefield 3? If not, now is a good time to remind you that you'll want to update your graphics drivers on your PC for the game. Both AMD and NVIDIA have released optimized versions of their drivers for DICE's Frostbite 2 engine. I put a solid 3 hours into the campaign last night on my PC armed with a GeForce GTX 580 on all Ultra settings and the latest drivers. The game is drop dead gorgeous for sure and makes serious use of lighting effects with some really slick texture details.
