Killing Floor is a popular, low-cost alternative to the Left 4 Dead series. Its 6 player online co-op and addictive character leveling system more than compensates for the absolutely haphazard character and monster design. The Steam game goes on sale constantly, which has helped it reach its millionth sale recently. And what better way to celebrate than another big sale?

Killing Floor Is Free and Christmas Themed This WeekendAndrew Gaskill

Oh, sweet!  Killing Floor is free to play this weekend!  For those of you who don't know, Killing Floor is a PC horror themed FPS that offers online co-op for up to six players.  We reviewed it way back in 2009, and we really enjoyed the title, giving it a 4.5/5.  Not only is the game free to play, there's also a "Twisted Christmas" event going on.  That's right, you can blast mutant reindeer and gruesome gingerbread men into tiny little bite-sized pieces.  The "Twisted Christmas" event also includes new weapons, new achievements, and a new map.  All of the details are right here.  Check out the following video for more information.

If you like what you see, you can pick up the whole game for 75% off.  The standard game goes for $19.99, but has been marked down to $4.99, for those of you who failed math.  The entire Killing Floor Bundle, which includes a ton of different characters, normally goes for $31.93.  It's available now for $7.98.  This deal is only good through December 11th.  You can download it from Steam here.

Killing Floor's Summer Sideshow Event Features The Stuff of NightmaresNick Puleo

Killing Floor, the six player co-op shooter on PC, is kicking off a brand new promotion for the summer called "The Summer Sideshow Event."    Evil monkey men?  Check.  Psychotic undead clown dudes?  Check.  Creepy guys wearing gas masks?  Check.  Hiding under the covers for the rest of the night?  You betcha.

So what exactly is the event?

Killing Floor Wishes You A Very 'Twisted Christmas'Marc Allie

It's that time of year... when you're getting pretty sick of all the holiday cheer.  Why not take out your frustrations on the whole "glad tidings" bit with some good old fashioned zombie killing?  Killing Floor is bringing its players the "Twisted Christmas" event, starting December 14 and running through January 4.  All of the normal zombies and other enemies will be replaced by holiday themed specimens, and there's even a brand new level: Santa's Evil Lair.  (I suppose we all knew deep down inside that those elves were a bit diabolical.)  If that isn't enough for you, there are new achievements, including 13 Christmas themed ones, taking the total up over 130!

A new playable character, Baddest Santa, will be made available.  But the twisted Kris Kringle won't be alone, as the Team Fortress 2 Pyro will be a playable character as well (for those who own both games, anyway).  Tying in with the holiday carnage, a new batch of DLC will launch: London's Finest.  It's got four brand new characters, and I'll give you three guesses as to the new setting for this DLC.  We thought highly of Killing Floor in our review; now might be a good time to check it out if you haven't already!

Killing Floor Oozes Onto MacMarc Allie

Now that uber game service Steam is available for Macs, more and more titles are being released for Apple's long neglected (by game companies, at least) platform.  One new addition is Killing Floor, a strong co-op zombie slaying title.  We thought rather highly of the title, and it's on sale for 33% off the standard $20 price.  Best of all, cross-platform play is enabled, meaning you can slaughter hordes of undead with a friend regardless of their preference for a computer.

Killing Floor Unleashes a Snowstorm of Maps and New Co-Op ContentNick Puleo

We were pretty surprised at how fun Killing Floor was when it was released earlier this year with its 6 player co-op gameplay.  At first we thought it was nothing more than a Left 4 Dead clone, but we soon came to realize the game did quite a bit to set itself apart.

There's been a steady stream of updates and content to the game, but now Tripwire has released the biggest blast of content yet as part of their Snowstorm event.

Killing Floor Free Steam Weekend Starts TodayNick Puleo

We reviewed Killing Floor back in June of this year and gave it pretty high accolades.  In a world crowded with zombie and undead shooters, Killing Floor managed to set itself apart by offering new depth in gameplay and six player co-op.  If you still haven't dropped the $20 on the game, you can now get your hands waxed and ready with the full version for free this weekend on Steam.

You can preload the game now, and it should unlock later today, with it being playable until the end of the weekend.  Tripwire has even included brand new bonus content which includes three new maps, seven new weapons and twenty new Steam achievements.

Tripwire Self Publishing Killing Floor in North AmericaNick Puleo
Wal-Mart here we come!

Tripwire Interactive has announced it will self publish its six player co-op shooter, Killing Floor, in North America.  The game is set for a retail release "shortly" for the wallet friendly price of $19.99.  This is good news for folks afraid of Valve's Steam service or other digital distribution methods.  But really, there's no reason to be afraid, the scary digital monsters won't get you.

Be sure to check out our review of the game in the meantime.

The Killing Floor Getting Free DLC, Premium DLCNick Puleo

Tripwire Interactive has announced the first piece of DLC for The Killing Floor on the PC.  The six player co-op shooter is getting a new campaign map called Foundry which pits players against the zombie like creatures in an old Iron Works building.

Two new weapons will be included, an AK-47 and a Samurai Sword.  Yes...a samurai sword.  This pack is being called the Heavy Metal pack and will be available through Steam soon.

There's also a premium piece of content coming that includes four new characters.  No date or price was given for this.

Make a Killing Floor Co-Op Map, Win 10kNick Puleo

If you read our review of Killing Floor, you know it's a pretty damn good co-op game.  But like any game of its type, you are limited by the amount of maps available.  Tripwire intends to do something about that, no - not by making maps themselves.  Instead they have launched the "Grindhouse Map Making Contest" with winners pulling in prizes worth a total of $20,000.

Prizes also including video cards, keyboards, mice and of course cold hard cash.  To win your job is to create a truly awesome cooperative map for Killing Floor.  There's two waves of the contest, with the first one ending July 31st, and the second ending September 18th.

Perhaps this is a good opportunity to team up with a friend to create a truly awesome map, and then split the winnings?  That's co-op on so many levels!

Killing Floor Co-Op ReviewMike Katsufrakis

We all love zombies. Alright, some of us don't love them, but the desire to mow down zombie hordes is nigh universal.  With last year's Left 4 Dead, the zombie co-op survival genre was born, and was quickly reinforced by Call of Duty: World at War's Nazi Zombies mode.  Killing Floor, from Tripwire Interactive, liberally borrows elements from both of these games and a few others to create a wonderful co-op experience that feels instantly familiar, but becomes unique almost from the moment you take control.  With co-op for up to six players being the game's entire focus (its subtitle is "Co-Op Survival Horror", after all), genre (and co-op) fans are in for a real treat.

Countdown To The Killing FloorKatrina Pawlowski
You'd be crazy not to!

Who's ready to mop the floor with some terrifying "Specimen" in the exciting new first person shooter/survival horror game, The Killing Floor? Oh, did we mention it was actually built around the bare essentials of co-op? Hopefully we have the attention of PC first person shooter fans, so here's the 411 on The Killing Floor.

Up to six players work together to survive the infected streets of London, with in depth character classes that spice up the way things are done. You'll have your standard classes such as medic, berserker, sharpshooter, et cetera. Work with all of these classes to ensure your survival against an array of infected "Specimens" that will undoubtedly have the upper hand.

As far as picking up this game, Steam has the countdown 'till release running on their website. If you buy before it's May 14th release, there's even a $5 discount in it for you! Pay it forward in a sense by telling 5 of your friends to pick it up to cover all 6 classes, and they can tell 5 of their friends!

The Only Thing This Floor is Good for is KillingNick Puleo
"Quick..everyone to Old Navy!"

I'm not quite sure what to make of a game with the title Killing Floor.  Is it a psychotic floor gone bad, hellbent on the destruction of humanity?  Perhaps a freak dance floor accident?  I'm really not sure.  Whatever the Killing Floor is, it's co-op, and co-op for six players at that.

Tripwire Interactive, makers of Red Orchestra, have announced that the website for Killing Floor has gone live and is loaded with details of this co-op shooter.  We know the basic premise of the game, much like Left 4 Dead, is to survive waves of zombies.  These zombies look a bit different though, for one, they appear to have lost their clothes.  They also appear to carry chainsaws.

The new site has a bunch of screenshots and more information on the game, which is planned to be released on Steam sometime this year with full Steamworks support, that means achievements!
