The latest update to the mega-hit Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is out now. The next time you start your game, you will automatically download patch 11. This time around, there are no super exciting new features or items available, however. Update 11 is simply a fix to some of the bugs and glitches that have been present in the game. Hard to believe, but Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition was released exactly one year ago yesterday. What better way to celebrate the first year anniversary of the sandbox classic than to make a free set of birthday skins available to all players? Update number 9, which will add the Enderdragon (among other things), has officially passed Microsoft certification testing and will be released this week on Friday, April 5th. It's all about action with the latest trailer from 4J Studios. They have been teasing update 9 of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition for some time now. The main addition with this latest Minecraft update is the Enderdragon. Like we covered in a previous article, players will be able to collect a special item to travel to "The End" and face the Enderdragon in combat. It is no minor affair, and only the best equipped and battle-ready characters will be victorious. This is due to the fact that the Enderdragon has a few nasty tricks up his sleeve this time around. We covered the new and improved Enderdragon a while back, who has crystals protected by iron bars and comes with the ability to spray liquid acid on the players.

The trailer is certainly action packed, offering a tutorial on how to get to the Enderdragon. It also features many of the new skins available in the latest skin pack. While there is no firm release date for update 9, OXM reports that it has almost finished the bug testing phase, and that we can expect a full list of changes in the next few days. Lets face it, when you are looking for a great cooperative romp on a console, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition comes up often in conversation. It is fun, accessible, addictive, and is constantly being supported by great updates. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has been out for almost a year, and it looks like there will be a retail disc release for the game on April 30.

The game will be released at retail for $19.99. It will come with all of the features and content that the latest version of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition contains. This will include the upcoming title update number nine. Cooperative play will integrate seamlessly between players who have the retail disc and those who own the game digitally. Both physical and digital games will also continue to receive updates over time.

A little game called Minecraft could eventually make its way to PlayStation Network. The exclusivity deal between Microsoft and developer Mojang that has kept the console version locked on Xbox 360 will one day come to end, at which point Minecraft lead developer Jens "Jeb" Bergensten said a PSN release would be considered.
