The core co-op campaign in Revelations 2 will remain a local split-screen experience. Online players, however, will soon be able to join the zombie-slaying mayhem in Raid mode, which offers a series of action-focused gameplay stages where teammates can customize their characters and obtain more powerful weapons as gameplay progresses.

Episode 3 of the game will continue the 2 player local co-op that has been a great part of the series so far.  Beware that spoilers will be below if you have not played the first two installment (and why not?!?)

As it turns out, the game's PC version doesn't feature co-op of any sort upon release, as the Raid Mode's online co-op feature will be patched into the game at some point in the near future.  This is a huge disappointment for PC-based Resident Evil fans who've been patiently waiting for their chance to experience the game's asymmetrical co-op. Unfortunately, there was no indication that the game would not deliver on this promise until the day it hit virtual shelves.

Gamers who are full on looking forward to the online RAID mode for Resident Evil Revelations 2 might find the more expensive $39.99 edition of the game a better choice. Both editions have the full story mode game, but in the more expensive version you get a "RAID Mode Throwback Pack" which will grant you access to a ton of additional levels in the game, the ability to play Wesker and a character, and a character customization pack. If RAID mode isn't that big of a deal, you might try out the cheaper $24.99 "Complete Season" version, which still gets you the full game minus some DLC. Actually, if you pre-order the "Complete Season" before Wednesday's release you'll get the "Raid Mode Throwback Pack" for free as well. Not a bad deal after the coupon.

Releases for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC platforms will arrive tomorrow via Steam and Xbox Live.

We've got a couple Capcom UK folks showing off about eleven minutes of the beginning of Barry Burton and Natalia Korda's campaign.  Capcom diligently removed all spoilers from this video, so your maiden voyage into the zombie infested world may be pure.

Raid Mode will be included starting with Episode 1 when the first episode launches on February 24th. There will be 54 Raid Mode missions of varying difficulties (a total of three difficulty levels). More Raid Mode missions will be introduced in each of the following episodes, with 36 in Episode 2, 36 in Episode 3, and 68 in Episode 4. One especially important piece of information that was released is that Raid Mode will be local co-op only on Episode 1's launch. Online co-op is planned for Raid Mode, however. It should be released sometime shortly after Episode 4 releases in March. 

For those of you who haven't met him before, Barry Burton is a fan favorite S.T.A.R.S member from the first Resident Evil game. He's Moira's father and he comes to remote prison island that serves at Revelation 2's setting looking for his wayward daughter. Just like how Claire and Moira will be working together in their story arch, Barry will have a companion as well. He'll be joined by a mysterious girl named Natalia Korda who has the uncanny ability to sense enemies and hidden items. You can check out a Barry-focused trailer below.
