If you haven't picked up the game just yet and are interested in it, you're probably safe waiting until this summer when Sonic Mania Plus drops. The game adds a new "Encore Mode" that will offer plays a chance to play through same levels from the campaign, but remixed in new and interesting ways. Sega has also stated that there will be some visual tweaks applied in "Encore," but didn't state what that means, exactly. Along with the new mode, players can play through everything using either the standard roster of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, or as the new characters, Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel, which are taken from the 1993 arcade game, SegaSonic the Hedgehog.

Along with the digital edition of the game, which is only available digitally for $19.99, there's also a physical collector's edition that you can snag for $69.99 that's got quite a few goodies for the Sonic fans out there. First off, there's the 12" Sonic statue that includes that classic "Sega" startup sound. You know the one, you're probably hearing it echoing in your head right now. You'll also get a replica Sonic Mania Sega cartridge with a Golden Ring, and a metallic collector's card that has the download code for the game (yeah, no physical copy of the game). The Collector's Edition is available from Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, and pretty much any brick-and-mortar retailer store out there.
