Were you like me and highly intrigued with Relic and THQ's Warhammer 40K: Space Marine until you found out the co-op mode was more of a Horde mode instead of campaign co-op? But a nice low price can make a difference, and that's where GameFly comes in. The rental service/used game seller has both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of Space Marine on sale for $9.99 with free shipping until 5 PM Pacific Time today. GameFly includes original materials like online passes in the games they sell, so don't worry about being locked out of multiplayer. What better chance to step into a space marine's bulky armor?

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine - Chaos Unleashed DLC Available TodayAndrew Gaskill

Warhammer 40k: Space Marine gives players a chance to explore their Chaotic side today.  The "Chaos Unleashed" pack has hit the downloadable market.  This will allow you to take the role of Chaos Space Marines in the game's four player co-op mode, Exterminatus.  In this mode you'll battle from arena to arena against Orks and the Forces of Man. The pack also includes three new maps, which brings the game's total MP maps up to seven.  The "Chaos Unleashed" pack is going for 800 MSP on Xbox LIVE and $9.99 on Steam and the PSN.

Space Marine is also getting a Capture the Flag mode today, absolutely free.  Thanks, Santa!  There are also a number of new armor skins available for download, but all you really need to know is that the Legion of the Damned skin will cost you $3 bucks, or 240 MSP.  You can see pics of the four available skins below.

Chaos Co-Op Coming to Space MarineAndrew Gaskill

Space Marine's free co-op mode, Exterminatus, has been live for all of one week (one day, for 360 owners), and THQ has just announced plans for additional co-op content.  The new DLC will include an Exterminatus campaign titled "Chaos Unleashed."  It will put players in the mighty boots of the Chaos Marines.  You'll face Orks and the Imperial Guard as the Space Marines' evil, and therefore cooler, counterparts.  You just know that all of the Chaos Marines are wearing goatees under their helmets and calling each other "Bro."

This new Exterminatus mode will feature new arenas, boss rounds, and new Imperial enemies.  The DLC will also include three new multiplayer maps, which the game desperately needs.   Ten new achievements and trophies will also be for the taking.  "Chaos Unleashed" will run you 800 MSP, or $10 American Earth Dollars.  If you really feel like throwing money at some digital decoration, you can pick up one of four new swanky armor skins: Salamanders, Alpha Legion, Legion of the Damned, and Blood Angels for -GAH!- $3 bucks a piece!  Wow...

Space Marine Co-Op Content Finally Available on All SystemsAndrew Gaskill

It's been almost two months since WH40K: Space Marine has been released into the wild.  The much anticipated (at least by 40k fans) "Exterminatus" co-op mode released on the PlayStation 3 and PC last week, and is now live on the Xbox 360.  The co-op mode will take a meager 337 MB of hard drive space, so get to downloading!  I also noticed that there are slots for four more DLC packages, which is very interesting, given that some honchos at THQ seem less than impressed with the title's performance.

I'm happy that the DLC is live, because I can now finally give the game a proper Co-Op Review.  Everyone likes revisiting a two month old game in the middle of the holiday gaming rush, right?  Right?  Anyone?  Ahem.  Luckily for Space Marine, I'm a fan, and the first 10 minutes I played of Exterminatus appealed to my inner Adeptus Astartes.  We'll see how it holds up after a few hours of Ork stomping.  Expect to see the review up soon.  Space Marine is out now for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.  It supports four player online co-op.

Space Marine Co-Op DLC Delayed on 360Nick Puleo

Ok, so we kind of lied yesterday.  When we said that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine's DLC would be up shortly on the Xbox 360, we actually meant - well - we didn't know exactly what shortly mean.  According to an official post on the Space Marine forums, Relic found a bug in the title update/DLC that caused connection issues in co-op on the 360 version causing them to pull it at the last minute.

Space Marine's Co-Op Mode Arrives TodayAndrew Gaskill

Today is a good day!  Space Marine's Exterminatus Mode launches on the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360*.  That's the promised four player co-op mode.  The best thing?  It's absolutely free.  Players simply need to fire up a copy of Space Marine, and then they "will be prompted to download a small update which will add Exterminatus to the menu system and guide them through the add-on content download."  Easy-peasy.  Check out the video to see it in action!

You can see all the details on the co-op mode here.  We'll have a full Co-Op review of Space Marine soon!

First Video and Details of Space Marine's Co-Op ModeNick Puleo

Space Marine's free co-op DLC is out on October 25th, that's next week for those of you without calendars.  To date, details have been pretty scarce on just exactly what the four co-op mode would entail - but now a new three minute video showcasing gameplay has let out all the details.

Space Marine Sequel Squashed?Andrew Gaskill

I guess five weeks is enough time to decide if a video game deserves a sequel.  Space Marine came out 38 days ago, and plans for a sequel already appear to be dead in the water.  In a recent interview with Joysitq, THQ's Executive Vice President of Core Games, Danny Bilson, flatly said: "I'm not sure there's room for Space Marine."

While this is not a definitive statement outright killing the 40k spin-off franchise, it's never a good sign when an Executive VP is "not sure if there's room" for a game.  Bilson was referring to the upcoming WH40k MMO, Dark Millennium, stating that the Imperium of Man (which includes Space Marines) will be a playable race.  Since Dark Millennium is intended to be more action-based than traditional MMO's, Space Marine would basically be cramping its style.  This is a major bummer, since the entire tone of Space Marine was building toward something much grander, and the endgame left players  primed for a sequel.

Space Marine's Co-Op Mode DatedAndrew Gaskill

Battle Brothers!  Warhammer 40k: Space Marine is finally getting the promised cooperative mode, "Exterminatus."  For the Emperor, and all that stuff!  This is great news, because I've been holding off on the Space Marine review for over a month now.  I can't do a proper Co-Op Review if the game doesn't have co-op, can I?

"Exterminatus" is FREE DLC to all Space Marine players.  I put "FREE" in caps because every time THQ mentions the word "free" they cap the ever-loving crap out of it.   I think they want to make sure we know it's FREE.  It will be arriving on October 25th.  Yeah, that October 25th.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine Co-Op Revealed, First ScreensNick Puleo

We poked and prodded, stopping short of threatening violence - but we just couldn't get the co-op details out of THQ for their upcoming action game, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine.  Finally, mere days before release, we've got the official details of the mode.

WH40k Space Marine Demo is Live on All Platforms, THQ/Alienware Contest AnnouncedAndrew Gaskill

In case you missed it, the Warhammer 40k: Space Marine demo has gone live on the Xbox 360 and the PS3.  It popped up last week on the PC for lucky gamers who pre-ordered the title on Steam.  So now you can see if I was full of it when I previewed the game earlier this month.  It's bloody, brutal, and pretty damn boss.  If you like the Jump Pack in single player, just wait until you see it in multiplayer.  It's a thing of blood-splattered, gore-filled beauty.

To celebrate the launch of Space Marine, THQ and Alienware have teamed up to give away a fancy Alienware Aurora desktop computer.  You can see the specs after the video.  Mmmm....Specs.  It's like a super powered smart phone, but it won't fit in your pants.  To enter, simply join the Space Marine Honour Guard.  All the details can be found here.

WH40k: Space Marine InterviewAndrew Gaskill

Co-Optimus recently traveled to THQ headquarters for a chance to play the new WH40k Space Marine game. We managed to pry ourselves away from the action long enough to ask a few questions. Morten Haugaard, global WH40k sage, answered them.
