According to 1UP Capcom has a new contest for one of their recent co-op arcade titles, 1942: Joint Strike. The premise of the contest is simple, score the lowest score possible in the game to win. Ah, but not quite. To win the first prize, players must video themselves playing through the entire game with the lowest score. For the second or third place prizes you'll have to snag the lowest scores only on the second mission.
So what do you win? How about a swanky custom Leather Bomber Flight Jacket. You'll also get download codes for Bionic Commando: Rearmed and Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 as well as a t-shirt. Second place receives the shirt and the game codes, and Third just receives the game codes. There are six second and six third place prizes available.
So now, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Call it Nick's super special guide to winning this contest. It involves co-op...and it's simple. Hook up with your buddy and let him shoot EVERYTHING while you simply avoid bad guys. In no time flat you should be able to score a big fat 0 in the game. You can thank me later. Happy (lack-of) hunting.

Capcom has had a string of remakes of classic games with co-op focused gameplay. Next up on their list is 1942: Joint Strike, a remake of the classic arcade shooter. Find out if the 3d graphics and the new attacks make this a worthy successor in our full review.
Don't forget to stick around for our video review of the game as well.
Update: I've just been given a code to giveaway for this game on Xbox Live. Reply to this thread to be entered!

Well, as we said not too long ago, the release of 1942: Joint Strike is fast approaching. And as the Gamerscore Blog says, 1942: Joint Strike is coming out this week. It is one of the XBLA releases of the week, but it will also find its way to the PlayStation Network. The WWII-themed co-op shooter is all nice and updated in hi-def 3D glory, which we've detailed in the past. The game will set you back 800 Microsoft Points (on XBLA), which translates to $9.99 for the PlayStation Network version. So, if you want a nice spiffy shooter (that still stays true to the 2D roots) this could be the game for you.

As a long time fan of the top down vertical shooters like Raiden II, Capcom's remake of their classic 1942 title for the Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network really caught my eye. Titled 1942: Joint Strike, the game has a renewed focus on co-op play as well as adding some new enemies. Of course the most obvious overhaul is a totally new 3D graphics engine while still maintaining a 2D shooter feel. Finally, if you are a music lover, the game features a brand new score by Norihiko Hibino, an international composer well-known for his work creating music for the Metal Gear series.
1942J Joint Strike will support 2 player co-op, and will hit Xbox Live Arcade on July 23rd for 800 Microsoft points and the PlayStation Network on July 24th for $9.99. To wet your appetite for the title we've posted five brand new screenshots after the jump.
Fans of SHMUPs certainly know the 1942 series of games. The game is a classic, and Capcom is reviving the franchise with an Xbox Live and Playstation Network title called 1942: Joint Strike. The folks over at Team Xbox got their hands on the latest build, and we find out exactly why this game is drool worthy for co-op fans. As the title implies, you'll be jointly striking down enemy planes with a buddy - and there's even special moves available only in the cooperative mode.
As players work together, they'll fill up the joint strike meter. Once filled they can activate different special attacks to take down enemies. There's no word on exactly what the specials are, other than a lightning attack, but with three different plane types and three different specials it sure sounds like they'll be plenty of variety in Capcom's upcoming title. Right now, 1942: Joint Strike is set to hit both online networks sometime this summer.
Capcom has just announced another classic remake for both Xbox Live and the Playstation Network. The new game title 1942: Joint Strike is a re imagining of the classic arcade game 1942. With upgraded hi-def 3D graphics and online co-op play, this game is sure to win the hearts of vertical shooter fans. IGN has a hand on preview of the title, complete with screens and videos.
1942: Joint Strike is fundamentally the same game we've seen before. It's still a top-down vertical shooter. Only now we get it in true widescreen, sans the "arcade bars" so often seen on digital remakes. And though the gameplay remains two-dimensional, the visuals are actually 3D. 1942 is a gorgeous game, even in its unfinished state. Though we saw a few occasions of slowdown, it's certainly a looker that is only going to get better over the next few months. Surprisingly, the slick new look of 1942 is outdone by the new musical score by Metal Gear composer Norihiko Hibinio. It's contemporary, but doesn't feel out of place amidst the fast-moving arcade action.
The article doesn't have too many details on the cooperative experience, other than we can expect higher difficulty when flying with a wingman. Between this and Bionic Commando: Rearmed - Capcom is doing an excellent job of not just selling ROMS - but selling us a fresh version of classic game experiences.
We've got the full video after the jump.
