This Week in Co-Op: 50 Cent: Blood on the SandJune 24th, 2009 at 6:28 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Sometimes I'm amazed at my OG style.  Growing up in the suburbs of a small Pennsylvania city was tough living.  Soccer mom's, math homework, and games on the dodge ball court filled my days in the b-hood - that's short for neighborhood for all you city folk.  But at the end of the day I could always retreat inside, fire up by Sony boombox, and throw in tape of Dr Dre's "The Chronic" or Snoop Dogg's "Doggy Style."  I'm an OG at my core, but I don't need to be one to head back into the Middle East with 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand.

50 Cent: Blood on the Sand On Sale Today, Includes Diamond Encrusted SkullMay 29th, 2009 at 12:03 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

50 Cent: Blood on the Sand was one of those games a lot of folks overlooked, not because it didn't look fun, but because it may have just been too much for the money.  Thankfully Amazon comes to the rescue - today only - they have the Xbox 360 version of the game for $39.98

If you don't believe us when we say the game is good, perhaps you need to read our review.  Seriously, you need to go help Fitty get his diamond encrusted skull back, the world depends on it.  So do his sales numbers.

50 Cent: Blood on the Sand's Sales Are DisappointingMay 11th, 2009 at 8:06 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Despite strong reviews, it appears one of two things may have happened with the latest 50 Cent title to bring on disappointing sales.

The first thing is the game fell into the shadow of it's predecessor, and game that while selling over a million copies, failed to impress reviewers.  The second issue might be that 50 Cent isn't quite as popular as he once was, and even though the name is recognizable, many gamers scoffed at the idea of picking up a game starring him as the hero.

Killzone 2 Will Never Have Co-OpApril 15th, 2009 at 7:58 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Game, set, and match.  That's the killing blow of Guerilla games thrashing any hope to ever see co-op come to Killzone 2.  According to Co-founder and Managing Director of Guerrilla Games Hermen Hulst, Killzone 2 will never receive co-op as downloadable content.

"We looked at all the different flavors of co-op early on, but decided our first priority would have to be the single-player experience and the multiplayer," Hulst told Game Informer. "Rather than just tack on co-op, it would have to be integrated and done to a similar standard as the single and multiplayer.  Having looked at it again now. I do not think we would want to add it as DLC"

Well that's odd, because when I played through Killzone 2 it seemed that there was always an AI Buddy by your side, something perfectly suitable for co-op, and definitely not something tacked on.  Looks like it's back to 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, I hear it's better anyway.

Co-Op Release Alert: 50 Cent Blood on the SandFebruary 24th, 2009 at 7:14 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

What cleaning product is needed to take blood out of sand?  Perhaps 50 Cent knows, or at least, he better know because he's going to be spilling a lot of it in his upcoming 2 player co-op shooter for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

50 Cent: Blood on the Sand hits both platforms today.  Amazon has the Xbox 360 version on sale right now for $49.99 - so you might want to take advantage of that.  I know I've been pleasantly surprised with what I've seen from this.

We're Shocked, 50 Cent uses Bad Words!February 17th, 2009 at 3:00 PM by Katrina "ShadokatRegn" Pawlowski

Video game taunts are something we generally enjoy; what better way to take someone down, than to make them cry.  Army of Two showed how much fun co-op taunting can be.  50 Cent has a rather, er, colorful list of taunts to use in his upcoming game Blood on the Sand. It was no real shock to us when every line had a swear word or some other form of vulgarity. Now we can spend hours hitting the taunt button to hear “Try to climb me b****, now climb this!”

Pro tip: Turn the volume way up for that easily offended neighbor.  Repeat these during co-op sessions for maximum enjoyment with a friend!

Take a look at the complete list of taunts, but be warned; it's somewhat difficult to pronounce *, so use your imagination. (Contains almost-swearing)

If This 50 Cent Trailer Doesn't Sell You on The Game...Nothing WillFebruary 11th, 2009 at 8:56 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

It's time to put the nail in the proverbial coffin.  Empty the last bullet from the magazine.  Finally convince the world that the upcoming 50 Cent game, Blood on the Sand is going to be a fun as a balls co-op title.  Yeah...I said it...balls.

The latest trailer takes you deep inside the game showing off the two dozen realistic weapons, all upgradable.  If that wasn't enough perhaps the co-op driving sequences in the hummers will wet your appetite.  No?  How about you and a buddy in a helicopter teamed up on the Gatling guns.  Still?  Then perhaps it's the twenty or so counter moves, each more brutal than the previous.

All of these items become available by using the in game cash and points system.  Knock out a few killer combos in the game, unlock a new weapon.  Find some bling in a crate, upgrade your shotgun to a more powerful version.

My only question is - why isn't the money 50 Cent pieces?  *ZING*

50 Cent Has Lots of Friends in the Latest Co-Op TrailerJanuary 28th, 2009 at 12:59 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

When you're in a war it's good to be friends with 50 Cent.  Taking nine bullets and surviving doesn't happen everyday - so it's probably a good idea to stick close to Curtis.  Perhaps this is why the latest co-op trailer shows lots of Fitty's friends blowing the crap out of everything with the rapper by their side.  DJ Whoo Kid, Tony Yayo, Lloyd Ranks, and others make an appearance.  Don't know those names?  Neither do we, but that doesn't mean we can't wait to be them in the game's two player co-op mode!

Like we've said after the previous trailer we posted, this game just keeps looking better and better!

New "50 Cent: Blood on the Sand" Trailer is a Box Full of BlingJanuary 26th, 2009 at 8:00 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Every once and a while a trailer comes along that simply sells you on a game.  We've preached and said it before on here - we hear good things about the latest 50 Cent game.  Now...we've seen good things.

Immediately this developer video jumps out at you, with gameplay that looks like a cross between The Club and Gears of War.  The arcade style oozes off the screen with "bling" popups everywhere, the game's style of scoring.  Whether you find it in crates, get it from taking down enemies, or earn it from completing the in mission challenges - this game has more bling than Mr T.

Featuring co-op gameplay throughout the game with drop-in and drop-out support adds to the want level, but it's 50's taunts that make this a gem.  "Game over pussy!" and "Fire in the mother f*cking hole!" take this right out of our Co-Op Casual Friday column.

The full 7 minute developer interview is straight ahead - and like the aforementioned taunts - it's not safe for work.
