Co-op moves are back in Army of Two: The 40th Day, and this video shows them all. From co-op tag and snipe to riot shield to mock surrender, your favorite buddy tactics from the first game can now be performed anytime, any place.

When you're done watching the video - which we've embedded here for your viewing convenience - check out the official blog for a recap of the recent multiplayer preview blowout, including the Extraction four-player survival mode.

[UPDATED] Army of Two "Extraction" Survival Mode RevealedOctober 22nd, 2009 at 1:21 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

My heart just stopped. No, I don't need an adrenaline shot or a tampon quick-fix...I need Army of Two: The 40th Day. Like, right now.

The Army of Two Developer Blog has been updating like crazy, including some juicy updates that we've missed despite our obvious excitement for this game. Spenser Norrish, the community manager and a very helpful friend to Co-Optimus, has been steering us toward the blog for some time. After promising to feature the blog in a news post this week, the "Extraction" reveal trailer has been made available on the blog, and their timing couldn't be better.

Not only is Army of Two: The 40th Day jumping on the "survival mode" bandwagon, it's doing so with its customizable armor and weapon features intact. Pre-order demos and exclusive content? Pft. Try instant access to the game's free delayed-release bonus (read: DLC) four-player co-op survival mode!

Tyler Bates is Composing the Score for Army of Two: The 40th DayOctober 13th, 2009 at 12:32 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

Not too long ago, we brought word that Hans Zimmer is scoring Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. While that's pretty awesome for fans of cinematic soundtracks, here's some more interesting news:

Tyler Bates, whose previous credits include Dawn of the Dead, The Day the Earth Stood Still, 300, and Watchmen, will be providing the music for Army of Two: The 40th Day.

Things like this make me excited for the future of games. I used to hoard soundtrack CDs from my favorite movies. I have a collection of music by Joel McNeely, John Williams, Michael Kamen, Danny Elfman, John Powell, Hans Zimmer, Jerry Goldsmith...the list goes on. Seeing video game soundtracks on the shelf is going to be a real treat.

Question for the readers: who would you like to see score a video game soundtrack? (Myself, I'd like to see Trevor Rabin compose for a game.)

Army of Two's Salem and Rios Snipe Out Downtime at the OfficeOctober 13th, 2009 at 10:55 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

It's been some time since Salem and Rios dropped by the EA Offices to get down to business.  I'm assuming they are hard at work trying to finish up Army of Two: The 40th Day for it's early January release date.  From the looks of things, not everyone else has the same commitment that duo possess for getting a job done.

So they took matters into their own hands.

"LEGO With Guns" - Army of Two: The 40th Day's Gun CustomizationOctober 02nd, 2009 at 1:34 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

The image above may be a little too small to see very clearly, so allow me to describe what's displayed here...

What you're looking at is an FNH SCAR rifle with an CAR-5 tactical stock (most commonly seen on M4-style rifles), an M203 grenade launcher, a Leupold Mark 4 CQ/T "circle-dot" scope, and an HK36 barrel...with a soda can silencer.

This is the kind of customization that Army of Two: The 40th Day will allow players to tinker with. You can literally attached any part of any other gun to your creation. Attachments range from the common to the rare to the outlandish -- and every attachment has an impact on your gun's performance.

Army of Two: The 40th Day Preview and New Screens from TGSSeptember 25th, 2009 at 8:21 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Army of Two: The 40th Day has had a strong showing to date, and the latest previews and media coming out of the Tokyo Game Show are no exception.

We looked at the game's weapon customization back at PAX and came away with some favorable impressions.  Thoughts of iron sights on shotguns, pistols, assault rifles, and rocket launchers danced in Jim's head.  Could his dream become a reality?  Only time will tell, but for now Kotaku has some hands on with the builder.

Interview - Army of Two: The 40th Day PSP Producer Joe KhourrySeptember 21st, 2009 at 1:37 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

We were fortunate enough to get a few questions through to Joe Khourry, Producer of the PlayStation Portable version of Army of Two: The 40th Day. After our PAX interview, we realized that very little has been shown of the portable version, which will include co-op; in fact, much of the console version is being carried over in what we hope will be a fluid co-op shooter on the go.

Also: we made sure to ask about the dead hippos, which you read here at Co-Optimus first. (Remember that.)

Army of Two: The 40th Day - Interview with Matt Turner, Part 2September 14th, 2009 at 6:47 PM by Jason "OrigamiPanther" Love

In our first interview with Matt Turner, producer for Army of Two: The 40th Day, we covered why he chooses co-op, what’s changed for The 40th Day, and what “organic co-op” means.  In the second part of the interview, we dive a little deeper into the game’s morality system, discuss how the enemies are getting into the co-op spirit, and discover how gun customization can be a co-op activity.  Check it out after the break!
