We've been big fans of Call of Duty: World at War's Zombie mode since it was released. We've always said, time and time again, that the four player co-op game should have had a stand alone release on the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. While we're still waiting for that day, we do have the next best thing - a portable iPhone/iPod Touch version with included ONLINE and local cooperative play.
Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies includes three control options including dual stick, tilt and swipe look. It's not the most ideal method of playing, but it appears to work. As we've said there's built in online matchmaking included for four player, though there's no way to communicate with your teammates.
Only one map is included, which looks to be based off the original Nacht der Untoten map in the full game. Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies it out now for the iPhone/iPod touch and will set you back $9.99.

PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners can get their four player co-op zombie on this week for half the price in Call of Duty: World at War. All three map packs are 50% off this week. That gets you the three co-op maps: Der Riese, Shi No Numa, and Verruckt - quite the bargain. Oh sure, you also get almost a dozen other multiplayer maps, but you want to kill zombies. We know it.
So while everyone else is playing the Left 4 Dead 2 demo today because you didn't preorder, you won't feel completely left out. You'll still do your part to find back the impending zombie horde. 360 owners and queue their download here, PS3 owners hit up the PlayStation store.

It was just about a month ago that we broke the news of the PC version of Call of Duty: World at War getting the latest map pack, chocked full of zombie goodness on the Der Riese map. It looks like the wait is finally over, as a short but sweet message was posted on the official forums.

Have a great weekend!
That really says it all. Expect an an announcement today or tomorrow with the detail. Map Pack #3 will be included with the 1.6 patch. Soon PC owners will get their very own exploding monkey, and really, no one should be without one.

Like the previous patch before it, version 1.6 of Call of Duty: World at War is on the way. Along with the normal bug fixes and tweaks, the latest map pack will be included with the patch, hopefully at no cost. Time to grease up the mouse and keyboard for some four player co-op zombie slaying on the new Der Riese map!
There's no word on a release date, but it seems to be a ways off yet as it hasn't even gone into testing. We'll have more info on it as soon as we hear. Be sure to check out our impressions of Map Pack 3 in the meantime.

If you're looking to kill some zombies, or perhaps even trounce through the second World War - and you've got a few extra nickels in your drawer - here's a Steam deal for you.
Right now Call of Duty: World at War is 50% off on Steam bringing the cost down to $24.99. From the co-op perspective you'll get the game's campaign and four zombie co-op maps for this price. For something similar on the 360/PS3 you'll be spending almost $90. Take that console gamers!
The sale ends Thursday, August 13th.

When Nick invited me to play the newest Call of Duty: World at War Nazi Zombie map Der Riese, I was all too happy to oblige. The trouble with two-player survival games, however, is that if you're both in the same boat -- namely, the S.S. I Have No Clue -- you're not going to get very far. After several attempts to ward off the undead, we finally gave in and went in search of two more comrades in the spirit of 4-player co-op survival.
We didn't fare much better -- finding ourselves in the company of what were apparently a deaf mute and a three-year-old child, our confused troop made it through several doors, retreating into the best corner possible just in time to defend ourselves from a pack of Flaming Hellhounds.

The third map pack for Call of Duty: World at War hits Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network today, complete with a brand new co-op zombie map and monkey bombs. To celebrate we're giving away two codes for the Xbox 360 version of the game.
Activision and Treyarch have released the final trailer for tomorrow's Map Pack #3 for Call of Duty: World at War. The trailer largely focuses on the game's new co-op zombie map called Der Riese, as well as showcases the game's three new multiplayer maps; Battery, Revoution and Breach.
But where the video stands head and shoulders above is the focus on the new weapons and upgrade available, including but not limited to, a monkey bomb. A mother flippin monkey bomb. Give the trailer a watch and let us know what you think, but I guarantee you'll want your very own monkey bomb for work, home or play!
Map Pack 3 will be out tomorrow, August 6th, on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation for $10 or 800
.

If for nothing else, Call of Duty: World at War is going to go down in history for having the greatest co-op mode that was ever slapped onto a game: "Nazi Zombies" (Nacht der Untoten) came straight out of left field and has been providing gobs of great moments in co-op.
This Thursday -- August 6th -- the third Map Pack drops, and Nazi Zombie map Der Riese right along with it. We're looking forward to a playthrough for some Achievements and Trophies, and to see what new bits of zombie lore will be unveiled.
This pack will net Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners a cool $10 (or 800 MS Points). PC players will have to wait as usual, but if the last two Map Packs are any indication, Treyarch will make it worth your wait.

There's not much more to say about the latest video for the upcoming Der Riese co-op zombie map in Call of Duty: World at War. Put simply it's rock music, exploding zombies and dogs, and lots and lots of gunfire.
If this video doesn't sell you on the game's zombie mode, then I'm not sure anything will. Once again it looks like Treyarch has upped the ante by adding new traps to use against the zombies, and perhaps a new weapon or two. Lets hope this present the dramatic conclusion to our CoD zombie saga when it comes out this August.
