One of the top metal bands of all time has entered the rhythm game wars. Guitar Hero Metallica is set to kill 'em all, and we've got your review. Does Metallica seek and destroy the competition, or do they merely fade to black? And what about the co-op? Would you be better off playing as one? Don't get frantic, just read the review!

Now let's see some JAZZ HANDS!
So you have all these awesome plastic instruments laying around, and you've upgraded them all to be wireless. Tired of that ugly corded microphone for Rock Band or Guitar Hero? Wouldn't it be cool if those sexy new wireless microphones for Lips worked with the full band games?
The announcement that Lips microphones would be patched to work with Rock Band 2 came last year, but has yet to happen. Now, it looks like another game will get compatibility with those mikes first, and that game is:
GUITAR HERO METALLICA.
*crickets chirping*
Not a joke, folks. Nothing says "I'm an awesome heavy metal god" like sparkly, color changing, wireless microphones, right? Maybe you can pretend the sparkles are fire, lightning, or explosions, eh?

This release almost slipped past us; we're not used to those weekend street dates! Let's hope you've been doing some wrist and calf strengthening exercises, because Guitar Hero Metallica is here! You and up to three co-op partners can now perform your best Metallica impersonations within the comfort of your own home. Remember, using the links below saves you money off retail, and also supports Co-Optimus!

Are you ready to make your wrists ache this weekend? Ewww, not doing that. I mean downloading and playing the Guitar Hero Metallica demo for the Xbox 360. The demo just came out on the Xbox Live Marketplace and weighs in at 1 GB.
Rockers will be able to thrash out in four player co-op fashion to a handful of songs. What songs exactly? From Metallica we have: “Sad But True” and “Seek And Destroy.” There's also “No Excuses” from Alice In Chains and “Stone Cold Crazy” from Queen.
The full game will have over 45 tracks from Metallica as well as other bands hand picked by the metal group. Look for the game to be released at the end of the month on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and PS2.

A video just hit YouTube that was taken at some recent event which showcased Guitar Hero Metallica, the upcoming 4 player co-op Rhythm and Band game from Activision.
After fiddling with some options, the two players decided on Master of Puppets and what's followed can only be described as carpal tunnel inducing. Yes, Guitar Hero Metallica is not going to be for the weak, your wrists will ache and your face will melt.
I'm not sure I have the stamina to sustain this kind of playing for an entire game, let alone two songs in a row. Check out the video to see what I mean.

Shield your eyebrows because Guitar Hero Metallica is going to melt your face to 11 - or something like that. I mean...look at the FLAMES!!!
The four player co-op title Guitar Hero Metallica release later this month, so that means Activision is gearing up the hype train. They've released two video trailers showcasing some of the Metallica songs being featured in the game as well as some of the other bands that will be shredding with us.
First up is Motorhead's bass player Lemmy Kilmister. Motorhead's famous song "Ace of Spades" is on display as they thrash away on stage in front of crowds.
The next video features King Diamond of Mercyful Fate destroying worlds in "Evil."
Both videos make my hands hurt. This game isn't going to be one for the weak.

It's only been a few months since Guitar Hero World Tour was released, which means one thing. There's another Guitar Hero game right around the corner. No, not that one...this one.
Activision has released a handful of screenshots for Guitar Hero Metallica, and from the look of the shots - well lets just say they look eeerily similar to another rock music game. You know, the one with the band. The rock band? Yeah that one.
I think you can chalk this similarity up to the use of the grainy film filter and more realistic looking character models. The full shots are right ahead.

It's not often we get to put up a link to Metallica's website, but that's our source for this news item. We'd previously reported a rumored list of songs for the upcoming Metallica-centric Guitar hero title, but now we have it straight from the horses mouth. If you like Metallica, you'd like the list. I'm a fan, and I'll probably be picking it up at some point, as my love for "Battery" is greater than my dislike for giving Activision my money. Also, "Fuel" is one of the songs, and my son, as a toddler, sang that song like this: "Gimme food, gimme fries, gimme something on the side!!" I feel that memory is funny enough that I just have to pick that same song up in rhythm game form!
An interesting bonus is that the "Death Magnetic" DLC for Guitar Hero III and World Tour will also be compatible with Guitar Hero Metallica. That's a nice surprise and a step in the right direction, for sure. Compatibility of DLC between titles is one thing Rock Band has done better, and it's good to see that the Guitar hero crew might be seeing the light.
The full setlist (and subject to change disclaimer) is after the break...

For all you folks out there who think playing Drums on Expert in Rock Band 2 or Guitar Hero World Tour is too easy, we have some news for you! We hate to use Gamestop as a source, but if you check the pre-order page for Guitar Hero Metallica, you'll find something quite interesting.
Reserve Guitar Hero: Metallica and receive a Guitar Hero: Foot Pedal. The pedal comes with a splitter allowing it to be used simultaneously with another pedal. Available for online and in-store customers while supplies last.
Of course, this raises several new questions. Will the extra pedal be available seperately, or is only a preorder thing? Will it work in GH World Tour, or, for that matter, Rock Band 2? Most importantly, why am I so excited about this news since I fail out when drumming on Hard, anyway? A release date of March 29 is also given for the game. Better be working on the calf muscles in your off-leg until then!

Better grab a welding mask, because your face is about to melt. Activision has released the official trailer for Guitar Hero Metallica and it's not for the faint of heart. No ma'am, this isn't your average party game. Promising Metallica's "fiercest songs" I wouldn't expect this game to be for anyone other than the greatest of Guitar Heros.
There's no date set yet, but it looks like the latest title will support Guitar Hero: World Tour's instruments for a full four player co-op experience. Ready to shred some metal? Trailer after the break.
