Star Trek D-A-C Heading (Boldly?) To PSN and PCSeptember 17th, 2009 at 9:43 AM by Marc "DjinniMan" Allie

Lats spring, to coincide with the most recent (and awesome) Trek film, Star Trek D-A-C hit Xbox Live Arcade.  A team-based shoot em up, with a decidedly old school arcade feel, we didn't think too highly of the game, particularly the co-op.  Now the game is headed to release on the PC and the Playstation Network, in November, just in time for the DVD release of the film.

What's new in this version?  Two new classes of ships, the Missile Corvette and the Support Frigate, first of all.  Additionally, a new game mode, new power ups, and a new map are included.  Whether that's enough to make D-A-C a worthwhile purchase is likely dependent on your devotion to the Star Trek franchise.

Star Trek D-A-C Co-Op ReviewJuly 20th, 2009 at 9:26 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Star Trek D-A-C was released earlier this year along side the Star Trek movie reboot. There wasn't much fanfare around the title, and a lot of people overlooked it. Perhaps with good reason. We dive into the cooperative mode to see if there's any Klingons worth saving...

Star Trek D-A-C 'Kobayashi Maru' Achievement to Require Cheat Code?May 14th, 2009 at 2:11 PM by Marc "DjinniMan" Allie

Star trek D-A-C hit XBLA, PSN, and PC this week, featuring cool co-op outer space battles.  I've not had time to sit down with it yet, but I have to say the graphics, at least, look spectacular.

Fans of Star Trek are likely familiar with the Kobayashi Maru, an unwinnable test that Kirk passed only by cheating.  It is featured in both 'Star Trek II: Wrath of Ricardo Montalban's Pects', and also the new 2009 'Star Trek' film.  It appears that there will be a Kobayashi Maru achievement in Star Trek D-A-C!

Apparently, the only way to get the achievement is to enter a cheat code.  No one knows the code as of yet.  Props to the developers for this cool Easter Egg!

Star Trek D-A-C Hits XBLA TodayMay 13th, 2009 at 8:28 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

The Star Trek movie is doing amazing at the box office, and rightfully so.  Now the tie-in title hits the Xbox Live Arcade today with a six player co-op mode.

Star Trek D-A-C is a top down shooter in which players control one of three ship types in epic space combat.  It doesn't look particularly deep, but it sure looks gorgeous.  We're still unsure as to whether or not the cooperative play works in any sort of story mode, or if it's merely for the skirmishes.

Star Trek D-A-C costs 800  and is available now.  If you check it out let us know how it is!

Star Trek D-A-C Screenshots, Video and Movie Clips Oh MyMay 05th, 2009 at 8:29 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Insert joke about not having enough power.

The new Star Trek movie hits theaters this week, and by all accounts, seems to be a sure fire summer blockbuster.  Paramount is hoping to cash in on that success with a downloadable game tie-in called Star Trek: D-A-C.

Today they've released the first trailer for the game which combines clips from the movie with action from the game.  There's enough lasers and photon torpedos here to keep even the biggest Star Trek fans at bay.  And the new screenshots confirm it further.

Star Trek D-A-C Announced for XBLA, PSN and PC. Features Online Co-OpApril 23rd, 2009 at 3:11 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Paramount has announced a brand new Star Trek game to launch along side the upcoming summer blockbuster Star Trek movie.

The game is a top down space shooter that features a single player story, an online battle mode and an online co-op mode.  Details are scarce on the co-op, but the screenshots look pretty good so far.  There are three different classes of ships to pilot; the powerful Flagship, the nimble Fighter and the devastating Bomber, and each has their own special power.

Star Trek D-A-C is set to release on Xbox Live Arcade this May, we imagine right before the May 8th release date of the movie.  A PlayStation Network and PC version are also planned to launch sometime in the near future, abut they just couldn't do it - they just needed more power.
