Everything we've seen of the game thus far has largely focused around the gameplay aspects and how the core mechanics work (i.e., round-based waves). The latest trailer shifts to the story and what our band of intrepid explorers is up against; namely, an undead queen with a chip on her shoulder (not to mention some bandages). I'm certainly intrigued to see how all the promised puzzle-solving, looting, and shooting comes together.

Battlezone: Gold Edition Coming to Xbox One and Nintendo SwitchJason Love

Battlezone: Gold Edition will also include all content/DLC that's ever been put out for the game since its release two years ago. As Rebellion stated in the announcement, "That's all the tank skins, bobbleheads, and horns, as well as the Classic Mode based on the original, iconic 80s arcade cabinet." Nick reviewed the game when it first came out on the PlayStation 4 and while he had a few gripes with the VR experience, he absolutely enjoyed the co-op aspects.

Now before you go getting too excited, this new mode is wave-based/survival in nature. What sets "Sanctuary Onsalught" apart from the "Defense" or "Survival" missions is the way you progress to the next wave. First off, there's a timer that counts down until a portal will appear that then takes you to the next round/wave. So, you'll have to survive against an onslaught of enemies for that length of time. However, the second mechanic dictates whether or not a portal appears at all. Right below that countdown timer, there's a "Void Stability" meter that depletes over time. If it reaches 0, your run is over. To keep that meter from depleting and to fill it back up, you'll have to kill enough enemies and find some random pick-ups that are scattered about each area. The further you progress, the harder things get, but the better your rewards will be as well. If you want to get the new Khora Warframe, then you'll have to run this mode a few times in order to get all the necessary blueprints.

The announcement of this new "Siege" event came via the Capcom Unity Blog yesterday and along with the event there will be a content update (full notes here). Based on the language in the announcement, it doesn't seem like you'll be able to join in on this special hunt via the usual "Respond to SOS Flare." Instead, you'll either need to gather up all 16 members of your Squad at one time, or join specific Kulve Taroth sessions. Hunters are then divided up into four groups comprised of four hunters each, and while each hunting party will act independently in their own "instance" of the fight, all of the damage/investigation/part-breaking that's done to Kulve is pooled together across all of the hunting parties and all parties will get credit.

The new "Escape" mode allows up to four players to team up online to "beat the various challenges and defeat AI-controlled in your quest to escape from the depths of the mysterious pyramid in the heart of Siberia." Based on the gameplay video they released, it looks like you'll mainly be facing off against human "ghouls" as you make your way through different zones within the pyramid. It's a little less Left 4 Dead and a little more Halo, in a way.

The blending of those two titles isn't too far off from what appears to be the core gameplay. You (and up to three of your buddies either locally, online, or a mix of the two) design your own space station, choosing the general layout and where certain key ship functions (shields, maneuvering, weapons, etc) are placed. The placement of those things are important as you'll have to "man your stations" when faced with enemy ships. You don't want to have run all the way across the station to get to the shields at a critical moment in a firefight! There also appears to be a skill tree that branches into four different paths (Captain, Engineering, Weapons, and Medical) so players can spec into certain roles/classes.

In "The Survivors," your beloved King has eaten something "a bit strange" and is now straight off his gourd. Princess Lily is kidnapped (for the third time) and the King announces his intention to save the Princess alone. Not exactly consistent behavior.

To be fair, there are some good ideas and "hooks" in SCALPERS. The combat can get hectic at times and the lines, circles, etc. that indicate where and when enemies will attack provide you with a clear idea of where to position yourself in the midst of a firefight. There's also a kind of progression system for the four playable characters as well as the different guns and special abilities. These upgrades are all based on completing certain tasks, such as beating a boss on a particular difficulty level, but they can also be purchased through "loot boxes" that you can buy using in-game currency (there's no way to buy them otherwise, i.e., no microtransactions). While the progression mechanics provide you and your buddies with a reason to keep coming back... there's a lingering question if you really want to.

As far as the zombie-bashing fun (which is why we’re all really here) it is getting enhanced with The Shadowed Throne, which according to the official page’s break down; “The Shadowed Throne brings our heroes into the heart of Nazi Germany to confront a desperate and murderous regime. Berlin is burning, and Doktor Straub’s monstrous army is hellbent on purging his city of the Allied invaders.”

We've covered Dauntless a few times in the past, and Tally even wrote up some impressions of the game last fall when it first entered Closed Beta. All in all, we found the game to be more approachable and easy to hop into than Monster Hunter (though World did a lot to address those particular issues). I haven't spent much time in it since that stream, but after playing a lot of Monster Hunter World this past month and a half, I'm curious to dive back in and check it out again. I'm always up for a good hunt!

While the overall reception to Survive was pretty mild, Konami seems to be somewhat committed to continuing to support the title post-launch. Last month, the 1.04 update added a new co-op mission (Rescue), and this month, the "Encounter 1964" event provides players with at least a little bit of a reason to hop back into the game. Every time you hop in and play the event via Co-Op Play, you'll earn Battle Points (BP) that will unlock new gear, gestures, and other cosmetic goods that have something to do with the third entry in the Metal Gear Solid series. Here's everything you can earn/unlock:

Similar to the special Predator mission that popped up late last year, the new "Splinter Cell Special Challenge" mission will offer players that are able to successfully complete it some in-game goodies they can equip on their character. These include Sam Fisher's Night Vision Goggles, Proximity Mines (which are new), and Splinter Cell patch. As long as you complete the mission before May 2, you'll get those rewards/bragging rights. After that, you can still play the mission and listen to Michael Ironside's gruff intonations, but the rewards are off the table.
