Alien Breed Evolution Comes In Episodic InstallmentsOctober 30th, 2009 at 10:15 PM by Katrina "ShadokatRegn" Pawlowski

Upcoming top-down Alien co-op title Alien Breed Evolution has been confirmed to be released episodically in three installments, instead of being the first of a separate trilogy as previously believed. It's said that each of these three episodes will take players 5-8 hours to complete, and will be available for download "December-ish." If you're unsure about paying for 3 separate installments of the game, don't fret - the prologue will be available for download and preview for free.

Alien Breed Evolution Then and Now Trailer, Xbox 360 ExclusivityJuly 29th, 2009 at 8:21 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

The original Alien Breed came out 16 years ago, with the remake coming sometime in the near future.  A lot has changed in technology and games since 1993 - an era when the 386 was considered a powerful computer.  Team 17 has put out a video for Alien Breed Evolution titled "Then and Now" and it shows just how far the Xbox 360 timed exclusive has come.

Wait, what's that you say?  A timed exlusive?  Yes according to Team 17 studio director Martyn Brown, thanks to a good relationship with Microsoft (and some free advertising) - Alien Breed Evolution will launch on the Xbox Live Arcade with a PlayStation Network version coming sometime later.

Alien Breed Evolution Announced - First Screens and InfoJuly 09th, 2009 at 8:39 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Back in September 2008, we had mentioned that an Alien Breed remake was coming within the next 12 months.  September 2009 is fast approaching and it appears that Team 17, makers of the Worms titles, have taken the wraps off the game called Alien Breed Evolution.

The game is being built on the Unreal Engine 3, and claims to be an "absolute blast in co-op."  Another thing that was touted again, something that was mentioned in September, was the high production values.  The new screenshots look good, but we'll hold off judgment till we see it in motion.

Alien Breed Remake Coming from Team 17September 17th, 2008 at 11:16 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Remember Alien Breed for the Amiga?  It was a top down shooter similar to Smash TV or Gauntlet, but had a feel of a game like Doom.  The best part was the co-op action as you and a buddy fought through seemingly endless alien hordes; sometimes blowing up an entire level before making it to the elevator just in time.  The game was created by Team 17 of Worms fame, and it looks to be set for a remake as a downloadable title.

In fact, according to Joystiq, Team 17 Studio Head Martyn Brown has said the new version of the game will have "a budget far in excess of anything that has been spent anywhere on a digital title to date."  Sounds good to me.  But when does it come out?  According to Brown - within the next 12 months.
