Borderlands 2's second campaign DLC, "Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage," has been confirmed through a Gearbox Twitter account. The @ECHOcasts account was being used by the Mechromancer character until it was "hacked' by Mr. Torgue earlier today. After a poor choice of "explosion-based punctuation," Mr. Torgue went on to tweet:
Oh Borderlands 2, how I've missed you! It's been ages since I've shared any news about your insanely addictive shoot and loot gameplay. Well, I guess it's only been a week, but who's counting? At least today's news is good news. Gearbox is finally offering something other than Golden Keys with their infernal Shift codes. (Does anyone else plan their life around Randy Pitchford's Twitter feed?Just me? I'm okay with that.)
First, don't panic. Second, go back up your Borderlands 2 save data. DO IT NOW! This is no time to stay calm! See that picture up there? That's your Xbox 360 save data getting splattered all over the wall by the viral graveyard.sav glitch. Apparently, this nasty son of a bitch can be passed from player to player and it WILL kill your character's save data. Permanently. As in, FOREVER. Who or what caused this terminal gaming STD is still unclear, but one things certain, it exists, and it's wiping character saves.
Today we have a little news for Borderlands 2 and big news for a new iOS game in the shoot and loot franchise. First up, Borderlands 2 received a patch that should fix several minor to major issues that have popped up since the latest DLC went live.
Borderlands 2 has been out for a little over a month, and the role playing shooter has already received two impressive add-ons. The first content drop added a new playable character, Gaige the Mechromancer. She was included as a free bonus with all pre-orders.
That's right, information for the second Borderlands 2 campaign add-on has been leaked. Actually, I don't think "leaked" is the right word - "teased" seems to be more appropriate. Three new Trophies appeared in a PlayStation 3 update when "Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty" went live two days ago. A similar update outed the"Captain Scarlett" DLC when the Mechromancer add-on became available. Either Gearbox keeps on making the same mistakes, or they know exactly what they're doing.
The launch trailer for the first Borderlands 2 campaign DLC is live. "Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty" will be availble for download later today. Wait, wait. Let me go check one of my video game playing machinges... Still there? Wait just a sec. It's doing it's thing. Menus... Loading... Let's see. Oh look. Five billion Rock Band songs. From what I can see, no, it's not up yet. Good thing I have this trailer to tide me over. You can watch it, too!
I was going to start with something like "Thar she blows," but I thought that would be uncouth. Besides, Melville is a little too dry for a Thursday. Anyway. Borderlands 2. DLC. More of it. Dropping next week. "Capitan Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty" will be available on October 16th. I can only assume that Ms. Mechanically Enhanced Sexy Pants up there is Captain Scarlett. She's got a badass claw for a hand. Kinky.
Borderlands 2's Badass Rank is a brilliant addition to the game. It's similar to an Achievement or Trophy system, but it acutally does something. Unlike a 100k gamerscore or a trophy count, the Badass Rank adds several small but satisfying stat bonuses to all of a player's Borderlands 2 characters. It's something that's built up over the course of dozens of hours of playing the game. I'm sure many of you have become quite familiar with the system.
