For now admire the co-op friendly cover.

Borderlands Box Art Unveiled, Blows You AwayAugust 12th, 2009 at 8:04 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Borderlands's new graphical style has leaked over onto its box art in to what can only be described as a very comic-book inspired look.  It's not often a developer makes a big deal about the cover of their game, but I must have saw a half dozen tweets from various Gearbox folks regarding the cover.  Gearbox is proud of their baby.

I will say the cover seems a bit edgy, and while unique - I can already see some folks complaining it's a little too graphic.  I'm a little disappointed the co-op nature of the game isn't on display with some of the main characters strutting their stuff.  If anything, it's going to get your attention.

What do you think about the box art?

Ghostbusters Boxart Doesn't Lie to YouApril 16th, 2009 at 8:12 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

I saw this interesting story over at Kotaku, and thought I'd share.  Usually game box art is hit or miss as to whether or not what's advertised on the cover is in the game.  The upcoming Ghostbusters game from Atari though is being straight up about it.

The Wii, PS2, and DS versions differs greatly in graphical style from the 360 and PS3 version, and the box arts for those respective versions mimic it.  Even the ghosts on the E10+ Rated versions aren't as menacing as the T rated version.  It's good to see publishers taking the honest and upfront route in this case.

Left 4 Dead Box Art Evolution and an Amazing Real Life Photo TributeApril 10th, 2009 at 11:29 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

We never quite covered box art like we did for Left 4 Dead with any other game.  Whether it was German censoring or hand puns, we felt the need to tell the world about the box art for this four player co-op title.  Now several months later, as Valve gears of for some DLC, they've revealed the original evolution of the box art.

We were a bit surprised to see the familiar hand was no where to be found in any of the original mock-ups; and in fact the coloring was completely different.  Jeremy Bennet, the artist for Valve in charge of making these, explains why the shift went from a focus on the characters to something slightly different in the latest blog post.

Left 4 Dead Box - Now Pun 4 YouOctober 04th, 2008 at 8:25 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

So here's the thing, despite having some of the hottest box art to date, the original Left 4 Dead box was missing something (besides a thumb).  You see, the hand displayed was actually the right hand, not the left.  Missing the obvious pun, the zombie artists have corrected their mistake with a new and improved box.

We've sung high praises of Left 4 Dead on this site for months now, and as we approach the November 17th release date for the Xbox 360 and PC game we can hardly contain ourselves - we simply must share every little bit of zombie knowledge that crosses our path.

Check out the official site to gander at it's thumb less gaze.  Just be warned, that hand is still looking for its thumb, and yours is a perfect fit!
