Trine Trickery - The Tale of the Unintentional Cheat CodeJuly 19th, 2009 at 9:43 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

As I worked my way through Trine, I became deeply engrossed in the game.  I never found it very difficult, at least not the combat, but felt challenged enough to enjoy it.  I'm not one to cheat in games, but I accidently discovered a cheat code in Trine that not only partially ruined the experience for me, it made the game crash!

When I activate the cheat, I saw the above screen with a message - "Ready to kick some butt!" as well as a tone.  I thought to myself, what did I just do?

Star Trek D-A-C 'Kobayashi Maru' Achievement to Require Cheat Code?May 14th, 2009 at 2:11 PM by Marc "DjinniMan" Allie

Star trek D-A-C hit XBLA, PSN, and PC this week, featuring cool co-op outer space battles.  I've not had time to sit down with it yet, but I have to say the graphics, at least, look spectacular.

Fans of Star Trek are likely familiar with the Kobayashi Maru, an unwinnable test that Kirk passed only by cheating.  It is featured in both 'Star Trek II: Wrath of Ricardo Montalban's Pects', and also the new 2009 'Star Trek' film.  It appears that there will be a Kobayashi Maru achievement in Star Trek D-A-C!

Apparently, the only way to get the achievement is to enter a cheat code.  No one knows the code as of yet.  Props to the developers for this cool Easter Egg!

Unlock All the Guitar Hero: World Tour SongsOctober 28th, 2008 at 9:06 AM by Marc "DjinniMan" Allie

So, you picked up Gitar Hero World Tour, and had your buddies over for some co-op head banging action.  Imagine your disappointment when a mere trifle of the game's 84 tracks are available from the get go.  Worry no longer, folks, there's hope yet.  A cheat code is available that allows all the songs to be selected.  This code must be entered from the Options > Cheats > Enter Cheat menu:

Blue - Blue - Red - Green - Green - Blue - Blue - Yellow

I normally don't condone cheats, but I'd pretty much take any steps necessary to not have to play "On the Road Again" by Willie Nelson on drums again.  "Guitar Hero", my big toe!

In other news, the launch trailer for the game is up, and we have it embedded for you at your convenience after the break.

Fable 2 Pub Game Cheaters are in for a "Surprise"September 17th, 2008 at 12:55 PM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Were you one of those folks that decided to exploit the system in the Fable 2 Pub Games Xbox Live Arcade game?  You know, so when you fired up Fable 2 for the first time and decided to transfer your Pub Games gold to your real game you'd be instantly rich, wealthy, and sexy?  If so, you may be in for a surprise, at least according to the latest IGN preview with Peter Molyneaux.  What exactly that surprise is, we aren't sure, but according to Molyenaux the glitch was no accident, and there will be some consequence.

So what do you guys think?  Instant Evil points for cheating?  Constant AI ridicule of being a cheater?  Or are the chicken going to kick you?  Only time will tell when Fable 2 is release in a few weeks.

How to Be a Rock God by Pushing 10 ButtonsSeptember 15th, 2008 at 10:34 PM by Marc "DjinniMan" Allie

Want to know a quick and dirty way to unlock a song list worthy of a rock superstar?  The creators of Rock Band 2 have included a cheat that allows just that.  The MTV Multiplayer blog has the details on the exact method.

You simply input the original “Rock Band” unlock code — Red, Yellow, Blue, Red, Red, Blue, Blue, Red, Yellow, Blue — in the game modifier screen. Once the code is entered, the unlock song modifier will be unlocked.

Personally, I don't usually use codes like this, but in this case, it sure is tempting.  We want to play "Livin' on a Prayer" sooner rather than later, ya know?  Our experience with the game so far has been nothing but good: being able to change instruments and keep your character is a tremendous boon, and other tweaks to the menus and such seem well thought out.  Anyone else care to share their experiences?

Fable 2 Pub Games Gold Transfer Process, Gold GlitchAugust 17th, 2008 at 9:19 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Last week Lionhead's Fable 2 Pub Games were made available via Xbox Live.  While the games themselves will set you back 800 MS Points, those that pre-order the title receive them for free.  The games themselves don't offer any sort of co-op, but what happens in Pub Games is completely transferable to the 2 player co-op Fable 2 game when it's released in October.

Eurogamer has a short article up detailing the process.  The method is simple, once you start Fable 2 and find your way into a pub to gamble, you'll be given the option in to merge the characters and the gold.  The really slick thing is, after this process you can then keep playing outside of Fable 2 and have direct impact on the gold inside.

All of that is well and good, but for those of you who will end up with the darker seedier character in Fable 2 will probably want to pay attention to the following.  There's a pretty big gold glitch in the Fortune's Tower game.  The glitch allows you to bet one thing, but have the computer think you bet a much higher value thereby giving you a tons more gold back - even if you cash out  on a hand you would typically lose money on.  The full video of the process and impressions of pub games are posted after the break.
