A beautiful tease at what could have been.

Streets of Rage Remake was in the Works at Crackdown 2 Developer

So here's an odd story.  Ruffian Games, creators of Crackdown 2, were working with SEGA on remaking the classic Streets of Rage franchise for modern day consoles.  A two minute video was leaked to the internet showcasing the game's graphics, environments, and even some gameplay.  It's easy to see some of the Crackdown influence in the fighting engine, but it definitely looks like this could have worked.

Ruffian Games' New Game Underway, Possibly New IP

Ruffian Games, the developer behind Crackdown 2, has some rather interesting teases for what could be their next game. Last January, the Scotland based team was in search of some more programmers to help them work on some "really exciting, high action, visceral titles that are heavily focused on online [components]." Speculation began about what their next game might be, if it would have co-op, and if it would be another Crackdown title. Now, word comes from Ruffian that the company has "signed a major contract with one of the biggest publishers in the industry."

Big Sale at the Xbox LIVE Marketplace

Deals of the Week, One Day Sales, Special Offers, Gold Membership pricing, the list goes on.  There is a ton of content for sale over at the Xbox LIVE Marketplace, and much of it supports co-op.  Lists get awfully boring, unless their designed to save you money.  Check out these sale items.

Ruffian Games Looking for Programmers

Ruffian Games, the makers of Crackdown 2, are looking for a few good men and/or women to help them work on some new projects.  No details are given, other than the projects are "really exciting, high action, visceral titles that are heavily focussed on online."  Is Crackdown 3 in the works?  Maybe.  Is Ruffian Games hiring new coders to work on new games?  Definitely.

Big January for Xbox Live Marketplace

If you didn't get enough games for the holidays, Microsoft has you covered.  Major Nelson has more goodies coming your way this January.  The week of January 10, which my sources tell me is coming soon, will have yet another zombie theme.  Are you sick or zombies yet?  Heck no!  Zombie Apocalypse will be available, followed up by a discounted Plants vs. Zombies on January 17th.  Crackdown 2 is already On Demand, for those of you who like to do your crime fighting with a friend.

Crackdown 2 DLC is 50% Off, Full Game Available On Demand

Sometime over the holidays we missed Microsoft posting Crackdown 2 onto the Xbox Live Games on Demand.  The four player co-op title features campaign co-op throughout - its a game with did quite the in depth review of - and for the most part - enjoyed what we got out of it.  Its currently priced at $29.99 which, surprisingly, is the price it goes for at retail.  This bucks the trend of digital releases on Xbox Live that seem to be priced higher than their retail counterparts.

Crackdown 2 "Deluge" DLC Impressions

When Crackdown 2 was originally announced to have an 8 player co-op survival mode, we were ecstatic.  When we found out the feature had been cut from the game...we were saddened.  But the mode has returned, though slightly different, and only supporting four players - it's called Deluge - and its the latest piece of DLC for Crackdown 2.

Crackdown 2 Deluge Pack Offers more Co-op Goodness

Crackdown 2's Deluge Pack hit Xbox Live today, as promised. We notified you guys a couple weeks back of what this DLC had to offer and offered up a trailer. Most exciting to us, of course, was mention of the Horde-esque co-op mode called, well, you guessed it, Deluge. If you're on the fence about the Deluge Pack, you can preview it. The Deluge Pack Preview gives you a single-player version of Deluge and the other mode that's included in the pack, Capture the Orb (playable with up to 16 players competitively). If you like what you see, you can purchase the Premium Deluge Pack for 560 MSP which unlocks the full version of Deluge (up to 4 players), new achievements, avatar rewards, and Capture the Orb over 6 arenas.
