Prepare to Die will be replaced in the store altogether

Dark Souls: Remastered on PC Will Be Half Price for Existing Owners

If you've already taken the plunge into the world of Dark Souls on the PC via the "Prepare to Die Edition," then there's some good news. When Dark Souls: Remastered launches on May 25, you'll be able to buy it at a 50% discount. Not quite as good as a free update, but better than nothing, I suppose.

Death is temporary

Dark Souls: Artorias of the Abyss DLC Video Impressions

More Dark Souls. That's really all you need to know. The viciously difficult action/RPG arrived on consoles over a year ago. The game's popularity led to a PC port dubbed the "Prepare to Die" edition, which released in August. This version featured extra content not available in the original game. A whole new area was added to the world of Dark Souls, including new enemies, armor, weapons, spells, and bosses. We knew this extra content would make its way to consoles eventually, and it finally arrived last week.

While the resolution is fixed, it doesn't help the whole death problem.

Dark Souls PC Resolution Bugged, Fixed By Modders in Minutes

If you purchased the new PC release of Dark Souls, the Prepare to Die Edition of the game, you may have not been prepared for just how ugly the game looks.  PC owners are a proud bunch and we like our games to run silky smooth and look great while doing it.  Instead gamers were greeted with a blocky, pixelated mess when they attempted to play the game at its locked 1024x768 resolution.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition Launch Trailer Features A Vicious Boss Battle

They asked for it. Now they have it. The Dark Souls: Prepare to Die edition is now available on PC. The dark fantasy game known for its punishing difficulty is now available to the mouse and keyboard crew. The Prepare to Die edition will also feature around 10 hours of extra content which will cover the "Artorias of the Abyss" story line. Console fans may be tempted to double dip on their purchases. For those poor souls whose PC can't handle the load, never fear. The extra content will be coming to consoles in the form of DLC later this year.

New Dark Souls Screens and Prepare to Die Edition Details

There were some awesome displays at E3. Borderlands 2, Aliens Colonial Marines, Skylanders Giants, and the Big Three come to mind. Despite all the eye candy, on Day One my attention was focused on the simple Dark Souls banner at the Namco Bandai booth. Two monitors played looped footage of one of the game's new bosses. (Hint: Aim for the tail.) I was devastated to realize content from the upcoming "Prepare to Die" edition wasn't playable. I made the best of the situation, and picked the brain of of one of the gentlemen displaying the game.
