Dear Santa, I would like a Green Mushroom. Love, Sally

Co-Optimus 2011 Holiday Buyer's Guide Nintendo Wii and DS Edition

It's been a rough year for fans of Nintendo's console and handhelds as the Nintendo Wii is on its way out to make way for the WiiU and the Nintendo DS saw itself replaced by the 3DS - which wasn't quite the product most were hoping for. With that in mind if you REALLY have someone that wants a Wii for the holidays, that's about the only way we can recommend getting one at this point for co-op gaming. Of course, this still a lot of Nintendo goodness to get!

THQ Giving Away 65" 3D HDTV to Promote de Blob 2

People don't typically think of the de Blob series has the pinnacle of high definition and home theater entertainment - after all - the first game was a low-def Wii only affair.  But all that has changed with de Blob 2 which will hit the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as well as the Nintendo Wii when it launches next week.  Further, the game will actually support 3D visuals on the PS3 and 360 making it an unlikely candidate to show off your swanky new 3D HDTV.

Being an Air Traffic Controller in De Blob 2 is a Birdy Job

While the first De Blob game offered 4 player co-op in a special mode on the Wii, the new title - aptly named De Blob 2 will offer a two player co-op campaign for families to enjoy together.  The game has also expanded from a Wii only title to a multiplatform game with an Xbox 360 and PS3 version shipping as well when it launches on March 22nd.  THQ describes the new co-op mode a bit like Super Mario Galaxy, your co-op partner takes the role of Pinky and helps De Blob paint the town with color as well as destroying enemies and collecting power ups.

de Blob 2 Gets Release Date, Trailer

Earlier this year, we brought you the news that the upcoming sequel to de Blob would include a rudimentary two player co-op mode.  Described as being similar to that of Super Mario Galaxy 2, the co-op allows a second player to control Pinky, who can only interact with the game in limited ways: slowing down enemies, disarming traps, that sort of thing.  Obviously that's not ideal, but it means de Blob 2 might be a great game to play with younger kids.
