Assuring us that development is "on schedule", senior producer Mark Rogers has announced that the original November 12th release date for SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs: Fireteam Bravo 3 has been shoved back to January 12th, 2010.
After our PAX hands-on and GameSpot's recent preview video, we're definitely looking forward to checking this title out. Fireteam Bravo 3 brings four-player local and online co-op to the PlayStation Portable, and not soon enough!

Don't panic! But Borderlands on the PC just had its release date delayed. Thankfully it's only been moved back six days from October 20th to October 26th. The reason? Adding that spit shine and polish the game so desperately deserves. According to Gearbox that optimization process is taking just a bit longer than expected.
The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions are unaffected.

Sorry kid, we won't be making Christmas this year.
Chalk up another causality this holiday season. Army of Two: The 40th Day has been delayed from it's previous October release date until January 12th, 2010. It joins a myriad of other titles that have been delayed from a Fall 2009 release to a 2010 release.
Still of all the titles delayed; Splinter Cell: Conviction, Dark Void, Bioshock 2, etc, this is the first big co-op title to suffer the same fate. We know Borderlands is pretty much a lock still, as is Halo 3: ODST. It seems like Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising is on schedule as well. And lets not forget Left 4 Dead 2! Perhaps it's a good thing Ao2 got delayed.

Sad news hobbits. Those of you hoping to waggle with Aragorn, Frodo, Gimli and the crew in Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's Quest for the Wii are going to have to wait until the spring of next year. The game joins a growing group of video games that have been delayed from a Fall 2009 release to a Spring 2010 release.
No reason was given for the delay. LOTR: Aragorn's Quest features a 2 player co-op mode featuring Gandalf, and the game is designed with family play in mind. The game is set to hit the PS2, PSP and DS - but it's unclear if these versions would have co-op as well.

A bit of Co-Optimus trivia for you fine folks: this post is officially post number 1,171 for Co-Optimus (excluding two beta posts by Nick Puleo). It's post number 99 for little ol' me. And the game that we're covering here was first covered on Co-Optimus exactly one year ago today (January 30, 2008).
Cool!
Now that we've gotten that interesting and totally unrelated enlightenment out of the way, the next task at hand is to inform you that this very promising co-op third-person shooter set in the Great Depression time frame has been put on hold until a publisher picks it up.
Faith and a .45 sought to romanticize the gritty Old West and combine it with Prohibition-era characters and guns. Now it seems to have fallen prey to the same economic issues that plagued America in this very setting.
I-ro-ny!

A couple items of a "bad news" nature have come to light today.
First, the DLC for Fable 2 has been delayed due to "unexpected technical difficulties". The Knothole Island expansion was originally scheduled for December 22, just in time for those holiday gaming sessions. The DLC will now be made available until late January 2009. You'll have to hang on to your 800 MS points until then, co-op fans.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to play the Resident Evil 5 demo soon, either. (At least, without resorting to some trickery, as we reported here.) The demo hit Japan last week, and yet those gamers in the States are still left in the cold. No hard release date was given, beyond a wide open "early 2009". Considering the game's release date is March 13, we're hoping early means January 1, in this case.
Ah well, at least we'll have both of these carrots dangling before us during the January doldrums, eh?

We have some really bad news today folks. It appears that LittleBigPlanet, Sony and MediaMolecule's brilliant 4 player co-op platformer, is going to be delayed a few weeks. From what we've heard there was a level in the game that featured references to the Qu'ran in the background music.
While this might not seem like a big deal to some folks, any reference to the Qu'ran could be considered offensive to people, and as such with a high profile title, Sony didn't want to take any chances.
"We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence that this may have caused."
LittleBigPlanet was supposed to hit store shelves next week on October 21st in America, and October 24th everywhere else. Speculation now places the game somewhere in the 2nd week of November. In the meantime, we suggest you check out our hands on preview and video of the game.
Update: According to the PlayStation Blog the game should be shipping in North America the week of October 27th.
