Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 Co-Op ReviewJuly 03rd, 2009 at 5:10 PM by Jason "OrigamiPanther" Love

There is a theorem that states “an infinite number of monkeys hitting keys at random on an infinite number of typewriters for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type the complete works of William Shakespeare.”  The theorem is intended to demonstrate the perils of trying to define infinity by using a finite, though vast, number.  Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 takes this theorem to heart and seems to depend upon the fact that if you do the same actions over and over and over again, you may eventually find a rewarding experience lurking somewhere in the depths.  Unfortunately, Gundam 2 is not Hamlet and the play experience is more akin to using Yahoo’s babelfish to translate a book written in English to another language, to another, and yet another before finally translating it back.

PSP Getting More Hack 'n' Slash Co-Op with Dynasty Warriors 6: SpecialJune 29th, 2009 at 11:34 AM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

Is there anyone alive that hasn't gotten to the point where they can't tell one Dynasty Warriors game from another? I'm there.

The nice thing about the series, though, is that the formula is solid...if a little archaic. Chances are if you liked Dynasty Warriors 2, then you'll enjoy most of the sequels. Most recently, we saw the release of Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce, a PSP-only title that even offered a free four-player co-op demo. While we don't get a free demo this time around (not yet, anyway), Koei is fixed to port the Playstation 2 title Dynasty Warriors 6: Special to the PSP.

More Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 Free Content AvailableJune 02nd, 2009 at 8:32 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

A few weeks ago we pointed out a set of Dynasty Warriors Gundamn 2 content released on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network.  Players were greeted with three missions for the low low price of FREE.

It appears Koei isn't done with the giving as we now have three new missions available for download on both the PS Store and XBL Marketplace.

 The missions are as follows:

War!?: War… It never changes… A never ending cycle of vengeance entraps all who are drawn into its bloody embrace.  Will you be strong enough to be the one that finally puts an end to this tragic tale?

Holy cow!  Look at all this sweet junk! 1: Is there a Mobile Suit you’ve been itching to put together but just can’t find all the parts?  Here’s your chance!

Holy cow!  Look at all this sweet junk! 2: Here’s another chance to find those parts you’re desperately looking for to get that Mobile Suit up and running.

Good to see not everyone is charging for DLC these days.

Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires To See U.S. ReleaseMay 27th, 2009 at 2:21 PM by Katrina "ShadokatRegn" Pawlowski

Koei entertainment will be bringing Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires not only to the PAL territories as initially announced, but now to U.S. fans as well! Featuring 2 player offline co-op as well as the original multiplayer mode, Dynasty Warriors 6 is sure to bring familiarity with a splash of new content to your livingroom. From the press release we learn a bit about what new features this game has in store for us.

"As a lord, gamers must think strategically. By deciding when to attack, when to resist invasion, or when to initiate policies, a lord can expand their power and influence. An easy-to-learn "card collecting" system lets players enact policies that will increase their empire’s strength, improve the abilities of their forces, and more. The cards that a player receives will depend on the attributes of the officers and their army."

This Week in Co-Op: Dynasty Warriors GundamMay 20th, 2009 at 11:54 PM by Marc "DjinniMan" Allie

I have to be quite honest with you: I have a serious weakness for giant robots.  Shogun Warriors, Voltron, and best of all, the Transformers had a profound effect on me as a kid.  This same awe and passion for enormous mechanical automatons has been passed on to my kids.  So, when we saw Dynasty Warriors Gundam playing on a kiosk, it was only a matter of time before we tried it out.  Co-op meets giant robots?  What could be better, right?

Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 Free DLC InvadingMay 15th, 2009 at 10:06 AM by Marc "DjinniMan" Allie

Talk to the hand, sister!

The Dynasty Warriors Gundam series is quite interesting.  Obviously, Gundam is a nice game friendly franchise, with giant robots (not really giant robots, but still, GIANT ROBOT-LIKE SUITS, awesome) and lots of drama.  Dynasty Warriors is one of the longest running co-op friendly series.  The two meet and much fun can be had; I've enjoyed playing the first Dynasty Warriors Gundam over the past few weeks.

The sequel, appropriately named Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2, has just recently been released.  It keeps the same solid gameplay, and adds EXTRA GIANT robots.  As if that wasn't enough, three free DLC missions are coming to Xbox Live and PSN to extend the fun, each spaced out over the next few weeks.  Mobile Suit Pilots, add them to your queue!

Co-Op Release Alert: Dynasty Warriors StrikeforceApril 27th, 2009 at 12:54 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

I've mentioned several times that I'd like to have a Playstation Portable (PSP) again. One of these days, I'll bite...probably just before PAX. I just need to keep in mind that when I do re-invest in a PSP, I'll have to grab a few games as well.

Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce is one of several titles that I'm adding to the nominee list, thanks to co-op support and a what looks like solid action gameplay.

Four players can play in the ad hoc (wireless LAN) co-op campaign, bashing through crowds of enemies in true Dynasty Warriors style. Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce is available tomorrow, April 29th. Order through Amazon.com and support Co-Optimus!

If you're still undecided, a free four-player co-op demo is available via the Playstation Network.

Co-Op Release Alert: Lode Runner and Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2April 22nd, 2009 at 8:20 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

There's a few co-op games coming to consoles this week.

First up is Lode Runner for the Xbox Live Arcade.  The game features 2 player local and online co-op through what the game calls a "journey campaign."  I imagine fans of the classic game are going to at least want to give the demo a download.

Next up is Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2.  The game is a mix of the classic Dynasty Warriors formula combined with the popular giant robot Anime series Gundam.  The game features 2 player local co-op as you hack and slash (or punch and slam) your way through the waves of robot baddies.  Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 is available for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360.

Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce Demo...Attack!March 26th, 2009 at 1:48 PM by Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin

Fulfill your lust for bouts of bloodless combat against waves of enemy armies with the four-player co-op demo for Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce on PSN!

The official Playstation.blog posted the quiet announcement yesterday, along with a trailer which we've embedded after the "Read More" link.  Thankfully, this trailer is considerably more lengthy and interesting than the debut version.

Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce Strikes April 28th, New ScreensMarch 11th, 2009 at 8:52 AM by Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo

Koei has announced that their four player co-op version of Dynasty Warriors called Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce will be released in North America on April 28th.  Europeans will get their hands on the PlayStation Portable game on May 1st.

Stirkeforce looks to play out like an Action/RPG similar to Phantasy Star Portable in which players meet up to form party and then go out and quest, defeating enemies and earning items and upgrades.  One of these upgrades are new Fury powers which allow supernatural abilities like flying and lightning speed.  The biggest addition though, are gigantic end bosses that require teamwork from all four players.

We've posted a handful of new screenshots from the game.
