Press Play shut down and Lionhead Studios may be next

Fables Legends is No More

This news comes as a bit of a surprise. Apparently, Microsoft has decided to cancel the forthcoming action-RPG Fable Legends. In a news post early this morning, Hanno Lamke, the General Manager at Microsoft Studios Europe, stated "after much consideration we have decided to cease development on Fable Legends." It then gets a bit grim for the employees at Lionhead Studios, and altogether bad for developer Press Play.

Spend A Little Time Hanging Out With Fable Legends' Balverines

If you've played any of the Fable games, you're probably well acquainted with the furry ferocities known as Balverines.  Though they're rarely central to the plot, the creatures go hand-in-hand with the Fable experience.  They're like Tauntauns in Star Wars, or used needles at a music festival.  The latest "Return to Albion" video shows Fable Legends continuing in the lycanthrope tradition, although these Balverines may be slightly different than the ones you remember.

Get To Know The Ogres Of Fable Legends In This Dev Diary

Typically, I'd introduce this article by saying something about how ogres are a misunderstood race.  "Really, they're peaceful creatures.  They just want to defend their own territory," I'd say.  "We just need to try better to understand them," and so on and so forth.  You know what, though?  After watching today's Fable Legends dev diary, I got no sympathy for those lumbering cretins.

New Fable Legends Dev Diary Shows Off The Pucks

Fable Legends, the upcoming four player co-op from Lionhead Studios, is starting to shed the layers of mystery that surrounded it when it was first announced way back in 2013.  Although its release date is still nebulous (by that I mean it'll be out sometime between this very moment and the next time the Cubs win the pennant, i.e. infinity), the developers have hinted that the game will drop later this year.

The Co-Op Games of 2015 Preview

2015 looks to be the first solid year in a while for co-op gamers. The Xbox One and PS4 have hit their stride and the PC continues to excel. There’s a few big games on the horizon with a strong focus on those platforms, sadly, leaving being the Xbox 360 and PS3 era. We’ve got both new IPs and old favorites making a return. Let’s d...

Fable Legends Coming to Windows 10; Cross Play With Xbox One

PC Fable fans without access to an Xbox One can finally stash those tear stained handkerchiefs and commence training for next-gen chicken chasing. Fable Legends has been formally announced for PCs running Windows 10, with "the game due to launch on both platforms at the same time." Even stranger than a simultaneous PC release for a traditionally Xbox only franchise is the implementation of cross-platform play. You and your friends can mix up a big heap of PC's and Xbox One versions and still play together whenever you'd like. To me, that sounds like the future.
